I don't know why anyone would leave their child behind if they were deported. If their parents are citizens of Mexico, wouldn't their children be Mexican citizens also? If they are minor children, they are still wards of their parents. That they cannot take them with them is just a excuse to stay with them here.

Absolutely they are citizens of Mexico or whatever country their parents came from.

They can take their children with them, but of course would rather use them to stay here. You have to understand in many cases they have these kids not because they love them and want them but because the kids can give them a better life here in the US. As US citizens the kids can get food stamps and other benefits that can be sold on the black market for cash. The more kids they have the more money the parent makes. California gives these benefits for up to 8 children, so that is how many some illegals have, since each one brings in more money. If you were uneducated and your only skill was getting pregnant plus the state paid you for doing so, what would you do? This is why the birth rate for Mexican women in California is 50% higher than for women in Mexico.

For these people if they get deported or have to return to Mexico the kid is a big liabilty they cannot support and would rather leave behind.

Mexican men have no problem with leaving their families behind in Mexico.
Why would this be any different?
