Recently, a rancher/farmer friend told us of how he tried to use high school students for weed invasion problems in a field or two that he can't spray. They didn't make it one day...whining and moaning and crying about how hard it was..he had to take them back home. He said the Mexicans come in, work hard, get the job done. We didn't ask if they were legal or not. OK, what is a farmer to do?? This is an honest person who would prefer to hire Americans.
    So, what is the answer??
I'm wondering if the Mexicans he brought in were teenagers/high school students.

Maybe the quitter here is the rancher/farmer as he was dealing with high school students and needed to have some patience as weeding fields is if not hard work is teedious(sp?) and maybe teenagers are not the age group to be weeding a field.

I am a gardener and weed prevention and weeding is part of the job. If I were looking for someone to help me I would be looking for someone who was experienced and if I hired high school students I would have some patience with them and give them a chance to adjust to the job.

I've worked with the foreigners before and they are not all they are built up to be. They complain as well and will disapear at any moment.

I am not a teenager and can and do work circles around everyone everyday.

I agree with you in some cases, the America worker can be more demanding then the immigrant. Actually if we care to be honest here, that is as much of the immigration problem as anything else. I personally, being a non-union worker all me life, feel it’s the Unions that have kill business in this country, and that very union mentality even made it’s way into the non-union fields with the threat of unionizing. And worst yet, we allowed that same mentality to drift into our everyday life, allowing our children to be spoiled, generation after generation, making the US a pretty selfish place. Don’t get me wrong, I am not a socialist, I believe in capitalism, and that everyone should get all they can out of life, and dose has the opportunity to so if they want it. BUT do it fairly, do not cutthroat your coworker, do not cutthroat your employee, do not cutthroat your employer. It’s when that “you owe meâ€
