Another story - no immigation status reported
So here's another crime story, again with no immigration status reported through any of the local news stations. If you read the viewer comments, people are really starting to complain about this. It seems common now that these stories just disappear within a few days and we never hear another word about it. So the crime is never recorded as one of an illegal alien adding to the growing statistics. This seems to be the trend all across the country now. So what can we do to pressure the media to fully report the story?

Raleigh, N.C. — Raleigh police arrested three men and charged them with murder in connection with a shooting last weekend at a house operating as a brothel.
Police charged Rony Alvararo Martinez, 23, Elvin Adrian Martinez, 21, and Mauricio Castillo, 19, with two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
The three men are from Durham, and Durham police assisted in making the arrests.
Marco Antonio Alvarez-Martinez, 19, and Gregorio Lopez-Estrada, 23, died of gunshot wounds as a result of the shooting at 316 Sunnybrook Road Saturday afternoon.
Two others, Aquillino Padilla-Meza, 26, and Angelica Avendano-Pereda, 20, were injured.
The residence was operating as a brothel, Raleigh police said Tuesday. But they could comment if it was connected to a motive behind the slayings.
Initially, investigators said two men fled the scene in a dark-blue minivan, believed to be a late '90s model with untinted or lightly tinted windows

Heck, in here in San Diego they won't even report when a Mexican...err... Latino commits a crime, let alone identify them as illegal, even if they know for a fact that the perp is illegal. They'll just say something like, "the murder suspect is described as having dark hair, dark skin and dark eyes...".

Well it sounds like the illegal crimes are being severely under-reported in many areas. So when we look at the crime statistics which already are startling, they are in fact much higher. We have no way to know the real numbers. And I guess there's not much we can do about it.

Both the Raleigh newspaper and TV channels are very sympathetic to illegal aliens. They definately have a proamnesty position regarding illegal aliens and anchor babies in North Carolina.

IMO, all crimes reported should include the name, height, facial features, outstanding marks, race, and whether someone is an illegal alien, if known. Newspapers, television, and radio owe this to their audience.

I know there are a lot of news media outlets that purposely avoid drawing attention to illegal aliens. However, we're just as wrong when we assume someone is illegal."The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" ** Edmund Burke**

MW - I was not assuming anything. I'm just pointing out that this is another story where the immigration status is ommitted. It should be reported by the media. Even if they only mention that the status is being determined, then update the story. These people were arrested for murder. It' the media's responsibility to inform us of ALL the facts.
Actually, my husband wrote to the editor yesterday to ask why the immigration status is not reported and they responded with this:
The immigration status is not one of the questions that police ask
> when making an arrest and is therefore not necessarily known. Where it
> becomes an issue, WRAL reports it.
> There is no indication, other than the surnames, that these men were
> not citizens of this country. To presume otherwise would be a mistake.

I think it IS the media's responsibility to ask the police the status and include it in the article, espcially given the severity of these crimes.
