Demo 'Squad' have extremely low favorable views among voters

Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) recent antics may cost the Democratic Party the presidency and the House in 2020, according to a new internal Democrat poll in swing districts released on Sunday.

According to the Axios report: https://www.axios.com/alexandria-oca...d569dfdf9.html

"Ocasio-Cortez was recognized by 74% of voters in the poll; 22% had a favorable view."

"Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota — another member of The Squad — was recognized by 53% of the voters; 9% (not a typo) had a favorable view."

"Socialism was viewed favorably by 18% of the voters and unfavorably by 69%," Axios added.

And "capitalism was 56% favorable; 32% unfavorable."

The firm that conducted the poll requested Axios that it remained anonymous because it works "with all parts of the party.

"If all voters hear about is AOC, it could put the [House] majority at risk.

[S]he's getting all the news and defining everyone else’s races.

Socialism is toxic to these voters," Axios reported.

The poll's results are similar to other polls on socialism and AOC.

Another poll from June in Ocasio-Cortez's district also had some revealing figures. https://www.dailywire.com/news/48494...-ryan-saavedra

They don’t like her. She has a more than 2:1 ratio of unfavorable (50.88%) to favorable (21.37%) in public opinion.

They don’t trust her. Only 10.75% thought she had their best interests in mind in quashing the Amazon deal – 32.60% said she didn’t.

They don’t want her. 33.44% are ready to vote against her, and only 13.30% would vote for her.

When asked about AOC the poll found that the majority of the voting public answered either 'unliked' or 'unknown'

The news comes after President Donald Trump mocked the progressive Democrat 'squad' by telling them to go back and fix the places they came from before preaching what the United States should do. https://neonnettle.com/news/8129-tru...-own-countries

The president's remarks seemed to be targeting Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who is from Somalia and has been highly critical of the United States.

The Democratic Party freshman has been causing a stir Capitol Hill and in the media since she was recently elected.

When asked about AOC, however, the poll found that the majority of the voting public answered either "unliked" or "unknown" regarding their opinion on the controversial congresswoman.

"All is definitely not A-OK for AOC," Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, said in a statement.

"Most voters either don't like the firebrand freshman Congresswoman or don't know who she is."

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) shared a message on social media painting every supporter of President Donald Trump as a racist.
Omar, one of the furthest left members of Congress, retweeted a Twitter message from writer Wajahat Ali sharing an article written by Goldie Taylor for the openly anti-Trump Daily Beast website, titled, “Trump Is a Racist. If You Still Support Him, So Are You.”
“Trump is not a fine person,” Taylor wrote. “His words Sunday were not racially ‘charged,’ ‘fueled,’ or ‘tinged.’ They were unapologetically racist. And, if you support him, so are you.”
Taylor’s article referred to a series of tweets Trump issued over the weekend.
Trump wrote the following on July 14:
“So interesting to see ‘Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run.”
“Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!” he added.
Other than Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), an immigrant from Somalia, it’s unclear who Trump had in mind, as few other Democratic Congresswomen are from other countries and those that are are from countries considered stable such as India and Germany.
Omar is a Somalian national while her three closest allies are American-born daughters of immigrants.
Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), and Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) fit part of his description but were all born in the United States.
Trump added to his initial attack early Monday, writing that it was sad to see Democrats “sticking up for people who speak so badly of our Country and who, in addition, hate Israel with a true and unbridled passion.”
“Whenever confronted, they call their adversaries, including Nancy Pelosi, ‘RACIST,'” he added.
Pressley and other allies of Omar responded to the president after his missives.
“THIS is what racism looks like. WE are what democracy looks like. And we’re not going anywhere. Except back to DC to fight for the families you marginalize and vilify everyday,” Pressley wrote, sharing a screenshot of some of Trump’s tweets.
Tlaib, who has vowed to impeach Trump, added: “Yo @realDonaldTrump, I am fighting corruption in OUR country. I do it every day when I hold your admin accountable as a U.S. Congresswoman. Detroit taught me how to fight for the communities you continue to degrade & attack. Keep talking, you’ll be out of the WH soon.”
Besides sharing the article about Trump supporters allegedly all being racist, and people defending her against the president, Omar also wrote two tweets responding to the president.
“Mr. President, As Members of Congress, the only country we swear an oath to is the United States. Which is why we are fighting to protect it from the worst, most corrupt and inept president we have ever seen,” she said in the first.
She later added: “You are stoking white nationalism bc you are angry that people like us are serving in Congress and fighting against your hate-filled agenda.”

“If you’re not happy here, then you can leave,” President Trump said, prompting cheers from the audience. “As far as I’m concerned, if you hate our country, if you’re not happy here, you can leave.”

Democrats start to worry about retaining the House

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says this about Nancy Pelosi’s criticism of her and her small congressional squad of radical leftists:
When these comments first started, I kind of thought that she was keeping the progressive flank at more of an arm’s distance in order to protect more moderate members, which I understood. [I]t got to a point where it was just outright disrespectful … the explicit singling out of newly elected women of color.
Ocasio-Cortez was right the first time. Pelosi is trying to protect her members and, above all, to hold the House in 2020.
A May poll reportedly found that Ocasio-Cortez is profoundly unpopular in congressional districts throughout America. More than 74 percent of those surveyed recognized her name. Only 22 percent had a favorable view of her.
Ilhan Omar fared even worse. She was recognized by 53 percent, with only 9 percent holding a favorable view. Socialism was viewed favorably by 18 percent and unfavorably by 69 percent.
Chris White of the Daily Caller says Democratic leaders are concerned that with all the publicity Ocasio-Cortez and Omar generate, the Party might lose the House. Ocasio-Cortez “is getting all the news and defining everyone else’s races,” one operative fretted.
I question whether the concern is valid. Individual members will define their own races, and with Pelosi distancing the Party from its infantile congressional radicals, I don’t see the likes of Ocasio-Cortez and Omar costing the Democrats seats.
Of course, in distancing themselves from the rads, Democrats risk alienating hard leftists in their districts, so there is that. But to the extent House races are “nationalized” in 2020, they are more likely to be nationalized around President Trump and, to a lesser degree, the Democratic standard bearer than around Ocasio-Cortez.
Speaking of the presidential race, though, Democrats have reason to be worried about socialism’s unpopularity. Of the four leading Democratic contenders, one is an out-and-out socialist, a second is a borderline socialist, and a third flirts with socialism one day only to back off the next. The fourth is no socialist, he’s just old and confused
Nor is it clear that Ocasio-Cortez will prompt any of the Democratic contenders to have a Sister Souljah moment. Nancy Pelosi might; arguably, she already has. But she’s tougher and shrewder than any member of the Democratic presidential field.
Thus, even though Ocasio-Cortez and Omar are members of the House, I can imagine them having more impact in the presidential race than in the battle for the House.
