3 Lawsuits Filed Against Obama Over Benghazi

With the Benghazi tragedy finally back in the news and the White House rightly sweating over fears that incompetent handling of the crisis will bring down or at least severely damage the Obama presidency, the intrepid advocacy group Judicial Watch has filed three new lawsuits in an attempt to stop the administration from concealing key details about that fateful day in September 2012.

Judicial Watch’s strategy is a promising move to all concerned citizens who just want to get to the bottom of what happened in Benghazi. People not only want to know what President Obama’s role was in obfuscating information about the tragedy, but they also want to know more about then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s action or inaction as well as her dishonesty given that she’ll almost certainly be running to succeed Obama in 2016. It’s already clear that she’s unfit to serve as president as a result of Benghazi, but all of the information must come to light.

As Judicial Watch explains, its first lawsuit is against the State Department to force the release of video taken at the U.S. Consulate before, during, and after the attack. Thus far, the Obama Administration has rebuffed all calls to release the video. Clearly, the president and the secretary of state have something to hide.

Secondly, the watchdog group is suing to obtain information about the State Department’s contract with a foreign security company that was perhaps responsible for protecting Americans at the consulate in Benghazi. The Obama Administration has issued conflicting statements about its use of the security firm. Clearly, either no security was made available to the consulate or incompetent and inadequate security was provided.

Judicial Watch has filed a third Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to obtain memos regarding talking points edited by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. It’s been widely reported that high-level Obama Administration officials ordered that references to al Qaeda and terrorism be removed from talking points in the days following the attack that killed U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens. Without question, this was done to mislead the American people into thinking this was not a terrorist attack.

While Judicial Watch should be applauded for its work, it’s going to take a lot more work to get President Obama and Hillary Clinton to come clean about this massive scandal.

Benghazi whistle-blower a Democrat, voted for Hillary and Obama twice

A key Benghazi whistle-blower who has allegedly been punished for speaking out against the administration is a registered Democrat who voted for both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

The lawyer of Gregory Hicks, the former U.S. deputy chief of mission in Libya who testified before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Wednesday, confirmed the information to The Daily Caller on Saturday.

According to the lawyer, Victoria Toensing, Hicks voted for Clinton during the 2008 primary, and for then-Illinois Sen. Obama in the 2008 general election. He again voted for Obama in 2012.

“The fact is he is a registered Democrat in Virginia. The fact is he voted for Hilary in the primary and Obama and then again for Obama,” Toensing said.

Toensing added that she did not know he was a Democrat until the day before the hearing.

“I’m not interested in that,” she said. “I’m interested in government not abusing its powers.”

Hicks testified before the House Oversight Committee this week regarding the events that took place on Sept. 11, 2012 in Benghazi and recalled how the State Department told him not to cooperate with the congressional investigation into the events, which led to the deaths of four Americans.

Hicks further testified that he has been demoted since Benghazi.

“The job now is a significant … it’s a demotion,” Hicks said before the committee. “Foreign-affairs officer is a designation that is given to our civil service colleagues who are desk officers. So I’ve been effectively demoted from deputy chief of mission to desk officer.”

The State Department has denied the demotion, saying that Hicks decided to end his assignment in Libya early.

“The Department has not and will not retaliate against Mr. Hicks,” Acting Deputy State Department spokesperson Patrick Ventrell said during a Thursday press briefing. “As he testified yesterday, he decided to shorten his assignment in Libya following the attacks, in part due to understandable family reasons, and that he has followed standard employment processes.”

According to Toensing, however, the administration is simply lying.

“The State Department is lying — saying he was not demoted. It is almost impossible under law for them to take away anybody’s salary. But they demoted him to a job where he has no meaningful work,” she said. “He had a choice between no job whatsoever and a job that didn’t have any meaningful work. And I say this is like telling a starving man he can have no food or he can have the rotten beef. And if he chooses the rotten beef, is that a choice?”

Once Barack Obama was able to report that Navy SEALS Team 6 had slain Osama bin Laden, he had little use for them. Certainly, his administration has been uninterested in answering the questions surrounding their deaths on August 6, 2011, in a helicopter crash that claimed seventeen Team 6 members, as well as twenty-one other American and Afghani military personnel.

The families of those who died, however, haven’t forgotten. They have organized and are starting to demand that the government answer their questions about the circumstances of their sons’ deaths and about the travesty that was their military funeral, as well as to complain about inappropriate rules of engagement that turn American troops into sitting ducks.

Among those talking to the media are the parents of Aaron Vaughn, who died on August 6, 2011. During an appearance on Fox News, while his wife was talking, Mr. Vaughn seemingly went out of his way to scratch a little itch – twice – on his shoulder. In doing so, he displayed prominently a large tattoo on his arm: “Molon Labe.”

Unlike the ridiculous and meaningless Chinese script characters people too often tattoo on themselves, “Molon Labe” (Ancient Greek: μολὼν λαβέ; molṑn labé) is a phrase rich with historic symbolism. Translated literally, it means “come and take.” The context in which these famous words were uttered, however, is the Battle of Thermopylae, during which 300 Spartans, along with a small squadron of Greek fighters, held off the vast Persian Army.

When the Persians saw this tiny force, they demanded that the Spartans surrender their weapons. “Molon Labe” King Leonidas I replied – and the fight was on. The tiny cohort of Spartan fighters all died, but their valiant action at the pass gave the Athenians time to prepare for the Persian onslaught and, ultimately, to defeat the greatest army that the Ancient world had ever seen.

Those are proud, defiant words. They’re the words of a fighter who will not consider defeat. They say that the battle is worth the price. And Mr. Vaughn went out of his way to let everyone know that those are the words he carries with him every day. If the Obama Administration thinks that it can brush off these families – the ones who raised young men who went on to become Navy SEALS – it is very mistaken.
