President Barack Obama and his Democratic accomplices have spun themselves sick trying to stay ahead of the scandal they created in Benghazi, Libya. Anyone who watched White House mouthpiece Jay Carney’s performance in the White House Press Room last week no doubt experienced liberal-induced nausea. And anyone who watched FOX News anchor Chris Wallace spank Obama surrogate Representative Adam Smith (D-Wash.) Sunday morning knows the Democrats themselves have contracted a scorching case of partisan motion sickness.

And who can blame them? The talking points proffered by the fringe leftists who have taken over the Federal government like a group of choom-addled college students staging a sit-in in the dean’s office have swerved from the ridiculous to the insultingly stupid.

Observe the devolution of the talking points over time:

• Benghazi was a spontaneous response to a YouTube video.
• Libyan Ambassador Ali Suleiman Aujali is either lying or misinformed when he says the Benghazi attack was premeditated terrorism.
• Ambassador Chris Stevens never asked for extra security.
• Information Specialist Sean Smith never warned anyone about his concerns an attack was imminent.
• There was nothing anyone could have done.
• No air or ground support was denied.
• Obama was in the loop the whole time.
• Libyan President Mohammed Magarief is either lying or misinformed when he says the Benghazi attack was premeditated terrorism.
• Benghazi was terrorism.
• Benghazi was caused by the YouTube video. (Note: Obama continued to cite the YouTube lie for nearly a week after his own flunkies acknowledged Magarief was telling the truth.
• It was the “fog of war.”
• What difference, at this point, does it make?
• No talking points were changed.
• One talking point was changed.
• Twelve talking points were changed.
• We didn’t threaten, cajole or attempt to bribe any whistle-blowers.
• You’re only asking because you’re racist.
• “Benghazi happened a long time ago.”
• It was President George W. Bush’s fault.
• It was former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s fault. (Really? Really.)
• This whole debate is really a vast right-wing conspiracy aimed at destroying Hillary Clinton’s Presidential aspirations.
• This is just political theater.

Were it not for the fact that he’s a simpering little twerp, I might feel bad for Carney. As even the corporate media shows signs of interest in the Benghazi cover-up (even far-left outlets like The New York Times now acknowledge Administration misdeeds), his service as the “Squealer” to Obama’s “Napoleon” is clearly taking its toll. At one point late in his dog and pony show Friday, his face was so red I thought he might stroke out on live television.

And the show is far from over. As the liberal monolith begins to fracture under the weight of defending Obama from his own misdeeds, the Democrats have already tried to slide another plate on the bar. It turns out the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of law-abiding American citizens involved a great deal more than just a few bottom-feeders in Cincinnati.

At least the summer ought to be exciting. Here’s hoping we survive it.

LIES ABOUT LIBYA

There can be honest differences of opinion on many subjects. But there can also be dishonest differences. Last week’s testimony under oath about events in Benghazi on September 11, 2012 makes painfully clear that what the Obama administration told the American people about those events were lies out of whole cloth.

What we were told repeatedly last year by the President of the United States, the Secretary of State, and the American ambassador to the U.N., was that there was a protest demonstration in Benghazi against an anti-Islamic video produced by an American, and that this protest demonstration simply escalated out of control.

This “spontaneous protest” story did not originate in Libya but in Washington. Neither the Americans on duty in Libya during the attack on the consulate in Benghazi, nor officials of the Libyan government, said anything about a protest demonstration.

The highest American diplomat on the scene in Libya spoke directly with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by phone, and told her that it was a terrorist attack. The president of Libya announced that it was a terrorist attack. The C.I.A. told the Obama administration that it was a terrorist attack.

With lies, as with potato chips, it is hard to stop with just one. After the “spontaneous protest” story was discredited, the next claim was that this was the best information available at the time from intelligence sources.

But that claim cannot survive scrutiny, now that the 12 drafts of the Obama administration’s talking points about Benghazi have belatedly come to light. As draft after draft of the talking points were made, e-mails from the State Department pressured the intelligence services to omit from these drafts their clear and unequivocal statement from the outset that this was a terrorist attack.

Attempts to make it seem that Ambassador Susan Rice’s false story about a “spontaneous protest” was the result of her not having accurate information from the intelligence services have now been exposed as a second lie to excuse the first lie.

Despite Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s loudly proclaimed question “What difference, at this point, does it make?” the difference is between an honest mistake and a calculated lie to deceive the American people, in order to win an election.

Barack Obama’s election campaign oratory had proclaimed the death of Osama bin Laden as an accomplishment of his administration, as part of a general defeat of Al-Qaeda and other terrorists. To admit that these terrorists were still in action, and strong enough to kill an American ambassador and three other Americans in a well-coordinated military style attack, would be a politically devastating admission during the election campaign.

Far better, politically, to come up with a story about a protest demonstration that just got out of hand. This could be presented as an isolated, one-time event, rather than part of a continuing pattern of terrorism by groups that were still active, despite President Obama’s spin suggesting that they were not.

The problem with telling a lie, or even a succession of lies, is that a very small dose of the truth can sometimes make the whole thing collapse like a house of cards. The State Department’s own foreign service officer Gregory Hicks was in Libya during the attack, so he knew the truth. When threats were not enough to silence him, it was then necessary to try to discredit him.

After years of getting glowing job evaluations, and awards of honors from the State Department for his work in various parts of the world, Mr. Hicks suddenly began to get bad job evaluations and was demoted to a desk job in Washington after he spoke with a Congressman about what he knew. The truth is dangerous to liars.

The Obama administration’s excuse for not trying to get help to the Americans in Benghazi while they were under attack — namely, that it would take too long — is as shaky as its other statements. A small fighting unit in Tripoli was ready to get on a plane to Benghazi when they were ordered to “stand down.” Other fighting units located outside of Libya are designed precisely for fast deployment — and nobody knew how many hours the attack would last.

But it will take more investigations to determine who gave the order to “stand down,” and why. How many new lies that will generate is another question.

Senator Barbara Boxer Praises Hillary, Blames Republican Budget Cuts For Benghazi Scandal

While taking the time to heap praise on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for her Benghazi testimony, Senator Barbara Boxer of California said in a speech before the Senate on Tuesday that Republicans in Congress should look into a mirror and say, "Mirror, mirror on the wall" when asking why the attack on our American consulate in Benghazi was not prevented or stopped.

Even though her assertion has been proven wrong, Boxer said that House Republicans who voted to cut security funding for overseas embassies are directly responsible for the lack of security personnel at the Benghazi Libya outpost. Boxer’s claim is contradicted by testimony delivered before a Congressional Oversight Committee hearing last week when Libyan regional security officer Eric Nordstrom testified that “[Charlene Lamb, the deputy assistant secretary for embassy security] said that resources was not an issue.”

Here is the transcript of the pertinent part of Boxer's assertion, “It takes funding to protect a consulate,” Boxer said. “Who cut the funds from embassy security? The Republicans in the House. That’s who. If it wasn’t for the Democrats, it would have been cut more, so, I think the Benghazi scandal, in quotes, starts with the Republicans looking in the mirror.”

Testimony: Elements of Militia State Dept. Hired to Station Members Inside Benghazi Compound Were ‘Complicit’ in 9/11/12 Terrorist Attack

(CNSNews.com) -- Elements of the February 17 Martyrs Brigade, the Libyan militia hired by the U.S. State Department to station members as residents inside the U.S. compound in Benghazi and to protect the U.S. diplomats there, were “complicit” in the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attack that killed Amb. Chris Stevens and three other Americans, according to the testimony of Greg Hicks, who was the department's second-ranking diplomat in Libya at the time of the attack.

“Certainly, elements of that militia were complicit in the attacks,” Greg Hicks, the State Department’s former deputy chief of mission in Libya told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Wednesday. “The attackers had to make a long approach march through multiple checkpoints that were manned by February 17 militia."

Rep. Blake Farenthold (R.-Texas), who asked Hicks about the militia's complicity in the attacks, also asked Eric Nordstrom, who had been the State Department’s regional security officer (RSO) at the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli until July 26 of last year, whether the department was aware that the militia had any ties to Islamic extremists.

“Absolutely,” said Nordstrom. “Yeah, we had that discussion on a number of occasions, the last of which was when there was a Facebook posting of a threat that named Ambassador Stevens and Senator McCain, who was coming out for the elections that was in the July time frame. I had met with some of my agents and then also with some Annex personnel. We discussed that.”

Farenthold expressed his incredulity that the State Department would hire militia of this nature to provide security.

“I'm stunned that the State Department was relying on a militia with extremist ties to protect American diplomats,” said Farenthold. “That doesn't make any sense. How does that happen?”

“You mean like in Afghanistan where Afghanis that are working with our military that are embedded and turn on them and shoot them?” asked Nordstrom rhetorically. “Or Yemen, where our embassy was attacked in 2008 by attackers wearing police uniforms? Or in Saudi Arabia, in Jedda, we had an attack in 2004? The Saudi National Guard that was protecting our facility reportedly ran from the scene, and then it took 90 minutes before we could get help.”

Nordstrom added that the February 17 Martyrs Brigade “was the unit that the Libyan government had initially designated for VIP protection” for Americans and that it would be “very difficult to extract ourselves from that.”

According to a report published by the Senate Homeland Security Committee on Dec. 30, 2012, a member of the February 17 Martyrs Brigade had warned the RSO at the State Department compound in Benghazi on Sept. 8, 2012, that the militia would no longer protect the movements of Americans diplomats in the city. That specifically included the then-imminent visit of Amb. Stevens.

“In early September, a member of the February 17 Brigade told another RSO [State Department regional security officer] in Benghazi that it could no longer support U.S. personnel movements,” said the Senate committee report. “The RSO also asked specifically if the militia could provide additional support for the Ambassador’s pending visit and was told no.”

On Sept. 9, 2012, the day before Amb. Stevens left for Benghazi, Alec Henderson, the RSO in Benghazi, relayed the warning from the February 17 militia to John Martinec, who was then the RSO in Tripoli.

“[O]n September 8, 2012, just days before Ambassador Stevens arrived in Benghazi, the February 17 Martyrs Brigade told State Department officials that the group would no longer support U.S. movements in the city, including the Ambassador’s visit,” said a report on Benghazi released last month by the chairmen of the House Foreign Affairs, Intelligence, Oversight, Judiciary and Armed Services committees.

The report, in a footnote, attributed this information to an “Email from Alec Henderson to John B. Martinec, ‘RE: Benghazi QRF agreement,’ (Sep. 9, 2012 11:31 PM).”

The Accountability Review Board report published by the State Department said that the February 17 militia had stop protecting the movements of U.S. diplomats in Benghazi because of the pay and working hours they got from the State Department.

“At the time of Ambassador Stevens’ visit, February 17 militia members had stopped accompanying Special Mission vehicle movements in protest over salary and working hours,” said the ARB report.

The ARB report also said that normally four members of the militia lived inside the State Department's Benghazi compound, but that on Sept. 11, 2012 one of these four "had been absent for several days, reportedly due to a family illness."

When all four February 17 Martyrs Brigade members were resident at the Benghazi compound they out-numbered the U.S. Diplomatic Security officers stationed there four to three.
