Border Patrol agents should be pardoned
    Published: 11/5/2008 12:17 AM

To recognize the unselfish commitment to honor and service to our country, let's place the spotlight this day on Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean.

Less than two years ago, these two trusted Border Patrol agents acted in the line of duty, risked their lives and defended our country by averting the proliferation of drugs by a noted drug runner along our southern borders.

The drug runner has since been incarcerated for repeated violations.

In return, these two unsung heroes were sentenced to 10 years in prison due to a severe miscarriage of justice.

Our legislators in Washington need to co-sponsor HR563 to pardon our Hispanic heroes for defending all our people, our communities, and, most precious, our children.

If Ramos and Compean are pardoned.....another police officer should be added to that list of pardons....Stephanie Mohr!! In the line of duty...she and her police dog were in the process of apprehending two illegal aliens and her dog "apprehended" one of the illegals. Some time after the incident, she was brought up on "civil rights brutality" charges by the illegal alien. Does this sound familiar???

Stephanie has been in prison since 2001. She has a young son who has been without his mother since 2001....because of an illegal alien who demanded rights that should not have been his. How's that for justice!!! How many other law enforcement officers are serving prison time....instead of the illegals they arrested???

Except change it from pardon, to exhonorate. Pardons are for those who commit criminal acts. Not for those who are railroaded by a corrupt system of government.

After the uproar over Ramos and Compean.....if the government doesn't "take care of them voluntarily".....I'm sure there are many lawyers who would love to take their case. After the treatment they received from the government....I wonder if they would even want to return to their jobs. They would be returning to the same unjust atmosphere that got them into trouble in the first place. Once burned...shame on the government! Twice burned....shame on them! With the new administration and their attitude towards border and immigration issues...there may be an even greater turn-over rate of agents on the borders.

Since the GOP is ostensibly in rebuilding mode, and trying to figure out what went wrong, I'm going to convey to Republican office-holders across the country, and radio talk show hosts, that releasing Ramos and Compean, and investigating Johnny Sutton, would go a long way towards restoring some measure of faith in the GOP, among conservatives.

William, the timing is right, to make this an official ALIPAC effort. What do you think?

Yes, if there is one BIG victory we might be able to accomplish by the end of the year, why not wrap it up in a big way with this one?

It's certainly worth a try. Even if Boosh stays true to form, and refuses to pardon Ramos and Compean, or otherwise see to it they are released, it's a great issue for Republicans in the House and Senate to storm into the next session of Congress with. There was Democrat support for an investigation of their prosecution and incarceration, before. With Bush out of the picture, Obama's advisors might see giving these men a fair shake, as a smart move.
