Thread: BREAKING: AMNESTY BILL DEAD

House Republicans are backing off trying to pass the immigration amnesty bill this year, The Washington Times is reporting. This is a direct result of the pressure we put on the Republican Leadership. We teamed up with Tea Party organizations and together our voices were heard. This is a tribute to your actions and political savvy. We launched the pressure campaign on Boehner and many other groups joined very quickly--that made it untenable for the House Leadership to bring the bill to the floor.
POINTS OF CLARIFICATION: This is good news whether you are for immigration reform or against an amnesty bill for this reason: we know that the current Republican Leadership cannot be trusted to negotiate such a sensitive deal with the Democrats and Obama without getting rolled. The current weak Leadership would have failed us again and created a new Democrat Party interest group in the process. It was also a terrible time to shift the nation's focus off of the Obamacare disaster; tactically, that was a profoundly stupid maneuver going into the midterm elections.

Boehner Killed Amnesty for 2014? Not A Chance – Insiders Say It’s Still On Track

A U.S. Chamber of Commerce source told Top Right News that Boehner is just letting things “cool off” after a contentious immigration retreat, and that there is plenty of time to introduce the “piecemeal” approach already planned to get to a Senate “conference” compromise bill. The original plan still in place to ram through amnesty after the Tea Party threat in the GOP primaries is over.

And a Hill staffer told The Daily Caller that “he expects Boehner and the business groups to focus opponents on the issue of trust — and then suddenly disarm them with a dramatic but meaningless announcement by the president.
