BREAKING: Florida Senate Votes to Ban Sanctuary Cities, DeSantis Expected to Sign Into Law

A huge win for border security in Florida.

On the heels of the Florida House of Representatives voting in favor of legislature that would ban sanctuary cities, the Florida Senate followed suit on Friday.

“Florida bill to ban sanctuary cities passes 22-18! Another victory for [Gov. Ron DeSantis] and the bills’ sponsor [State Sen. Joe Gruters],” said OAN’s Ryan James Girdusky.

The bill will have to go back to the House to rectify any discrepancies in the two versions before it is sent to DeSantis’ desk, but is expected to clear that hurdle and be signed into law.

“This bill isn’t about immigration policy, this about working with the federal government to enforce the existing law,” Gruters reportedly said. “Remember, only 15 percent of illegal immigrants who have been arrested get detainer requests and it doesn’t guarantee you’re going to be deported.”

Big League Politics reported on the landmark legislation Wednesday:

The Florida House of Representatives passed a bill Wednesday to outlaw sanctuary cities that harbor criminal illegal aliens.

Led by Republicans, the bill would require “local law enforcement agencies to cooperate with federal immigration authorities and banning so-called ‘sanctuary city’ policies that shield immigrants who are arrested,” said NBC.

“The GOP-led House voted 69-47 along party lines Wednesday for the measure, sending it over to the Senate where a similar bill is pending,” according to the report. The Florida Senate is stacked with Republicans, who outnumber Democrats 23-17. Should the bill pass the Senate, it will likely be signed by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is known for his tough stance on border security.

Vote to AUDIT all government taxpayer funded benefits including school and Medicaid and terminate those benefits to illegal aliens.

No IRS Tax Refunds to illegal aliens!

Deport the illegal parents WITH their minor children! Those children ARE a citizen of their country. Get them out of our schools and out of our country! We are not their baby daddy, the parents are here illegally, and they cannot stay they take their children with them.

    NO SOB STORIES!

If you’re a city executive in Florida and you want to start a sanctuary city, the state government has got some bad news for you.

On Thursday, both houses of the state legislature passed a bill that banned sanctuary cities from the Sunshine State, according to the Washington Examiner.
The bill, which passed the state House 68-45 and the Senate 22-18, now lands on the desk of Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has promised to put a quick stop to any potential sanctuary cities.
The legislation forces “state entities, local governmental entities, and law enforcement agencies to use best efforts to support the enforcement of federal immigration law.”The legislation also prohibits “restrictions by the entities and agencies on taking certain actions with respect to information regarding a person’s immigration status.”Furthermore, the bill authorizes “a law enforcement agency to transport an alien unlawfully present in the United States under certain circumstances.”“I thank the Florida Legislature for presenting me with a bill that upholds the rule of law and addresses sanctuary cities and counties in Florida,” DeSantis said in a tweet.“We are a stronger state when we protect our residents, foster safe communities and respect the work of law enforcement.”

I thank the Florida Legislature for presenting me with a bill that upholds the rule of law and addresses sanctuary cities and counties in Florida. We are a stronger state when we protect our residents, foster safe communities and respect the work of law enforcement.
2,579 people are talking about this

During the 2018 gubernatorial campaign, DeSantis promised to outlaw sanctuary cities and locales in the state.“If there’s a local official and it falls in the category where the governor can do this, any official engaging in that sanctuary behavior, I will remove them from their position if I’m allowed to,” DeSantis said.

There’s NOT going to be any sanctuary cities in Florida when I’m Governor! I’ve always opposed amnesty and stood up for the rule of law in our country. Cheap foreign labor is not an excuse to let lawlessness prevail in the sunshine state. We want people who come LEGALLY!

This is unsurprisingly problematic to the opposition party:

“Our state was once a place that welcomed immigrants looking for a better future. Under #SB168, Florida would become the Republicans’ deportation and family separation machine,” the Florida Democrats tweeted.Unmentioned in that tweet? Those immigrants are here illegally. They’re only in the country because they’ve broken the law. This apparently is something that nobody on the left wants to discuss. Even the mere act of putting the word “illegal” before “immigrant” is somehow an act of bigotry. And yet, that’s what these individuals are: They are people who have immigrated here illegally. There’s no way to wallpaper over this fact. They cannot be made legal citizens merely through progressive etymology; that’s not how it works.Furthermore, creating cities where they won’t get deported if they get in legal trouble also doesn’t make these individuals legal residents, nor does it make them any less dangerous. We don’t need sanctuary cities, period. It’s time that states took a stand against them. We applaud Gov. DeSantis for taking the necessary steps to enforce immigration law in Florida.

    NO AMNESTY

Don't reward the criminal actions of millions of illegal aliens by giving them citizenship.
