At 5:15pm EST, the Senate is expected to vote on the Webb Amendment that will give troops equal amount of time in combat as out of combat.

Specter speaking now and the bag is overflowing.

They said they were voting on a McCain Amendment number 2918 but I have no text on it. It my just be a substitutuion for the Webb amendment that just failed.

i hate to say it but this amendment is stupid. have em serve one year and then take one year off before going back. i dont see what good that is going to do, but i do think they need more than two weeks every year

I agree james...

We would have to double our military during wartime to be able to abide by that amendment and you know what that would mean? A draft.

They down sized our military under Clinton. The 10th Mountain Div. was trained to be urban fighters and they have been warn out. They wasted a lot of time not getting other Divisions up to speed. The whole concept was to make the military leaner and meaner but they only did it with the 10th MT. They whole thing has been stalled under Bush.
