It is just a way to sneak in the La Raza money....actually I am not sure what part of the bill anymore where this is stuck in as I a have missed to much of the hearings...But I believe it is stuck in the above amendment.

although an amendment was just voted down to give aid to illegals if the money goes to la raza I'd say they can do what they want with it..I think!

Texan, I couldn't agree with you more!! It seems nowadays with out stupid govt, it doesn't pay to be responsible!! We've become such a frikkin pasty nanny-state, that we are not encouraging responsibility in our citizenry and companies! "Don't worry! We'll bail you out! We'll give you amnesty! We'll give you free education and welfare!! WE ARE THE U.S.A. = The UNITED SUCKERS OF AMERICA!!!"

If it is this bill, it contains millions in earmarks for La Raza's "Development Fund" to enable them to "counsel Hispanics about housing". I believe this amendment was added by Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA). La Raza evidentally already received $1.3 million from the Department of Housing and Urban Development this year to conduct "comprehensive housing counseling for Hispanics". Even if this, too, specified that they must be in this country legally, I am sure this is not going to be enforced, even if it could be.

W said he will veto that bill anyway. he has his reasons i guess, no way.

I wrote an email to my Congressman who voted No on HR 5818:

Dear Congressman Sali:

Thank you for voting NO on HR 5818. I know it passed the House because the Dems voted party line, but I am proud of you for your No vote. (And Simpson too) I just don't believe every US taxpayer should bail out PRIVATE lending institutions. We had nothing to do with their subprime scams and loose credit practices. It is an abomination to me. These private companies should be left to fail, their stockholders should be the ones to lose their money. Any buyer of stock is fully aware of the risks involved. Companies fail all the time. Should the US taxpayer bail out every single company? Why? Are we a nanny-state now? This is just not right.

Congressman Sali, I also want to know why La Raza is getting $25 million from this bill. Is there a check and balance to assure us that they will use the grant as intended? Or do we just simply write them a check for $25 million taxpayer money and let them use it to lobby for amnesty for illegal aliens? In effect, we are paying them to destroy America as we know it. So, do you know if they will be accountable for every penny of this money? And what does La Raza have to do with this housing bailout anyway? How did they get in the picture? Why are they so special? Are we giving money to other ethnocentric groups too, or just La Raza? La Raza is already asking us for $10 million this year and $5 million every year thereafter FOR LIFE in HR 1999, the Hope Fund Act (I hope you and Simpson vote no on that one too, btw), which was introduced in April 2007.

Why does La Raza get so much money? All I see them doing on TV and the media is calling us racists and xenophobes, and DEMANDING comprehensive immigration reform, aka AMNESTY, which 81% of Americans are opposed to. Why are we taxpayers funding a blatantly ethnocentric group whose motto is "All for The Race and for all others, nothing" and you know what race that is. It is adding insult to injury to every American to not only have to try to be PC about them, but we have to fund them too! Outrageous. I hope you and Congressman Simpson can do something about this.

la raza should be deemed a hostile terrorist org, and its members brought up on federal racketeering charges. not given millions in hand outs. one day there will be a reckoning in america. and americans will have no humor or sympathy for enemies like these. i only wish to see it with my own eyes.

We need a federal law that outlaws all ethnocentric groups that have a race name in it. They are more divisive of our population than assimilative. Everything should just be "American This" and "American That."

We need to outlaw the Black Caucus and the Hispanic Caucus in Congress too. THERE SHOULD BE ONLY ONE CAUCUS IN THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT: THE AMERICAN CAUCUS. PERIOD!

The Orange County Register Newspaper, a person wrote a letter to 'Letters to the Editor' that she saw illegals marching in the 'May 1st protests, holding some signs among the flags, saying," Don't Forclose on Their Homes"!
