Can Rubio Get Past His Immigration Reform Folly?
by Javier Manjarres
29 Apr 2015
“Marco Rubio still supports legal status and a slow road to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants, but now says the government must convince Americans the border is secure before taking those steps.“-Des Moines Register
If Rubio is a true proponent of border security, then why did he feel the need to co-sponsor a behemoth, all-inclusive immigration reform bill in the Senate that, if signed into law, would have done very little to secure the U.S. border?
The main issue that Americans have with Rubio for trying to move this Obama-sanction immigration reform bill, is not so much that the bill acted as a springboard for amnesty of millions of illegal aliens, but because it helped legitimize two of the most liberal, un-American U.S. Senators, Dick Durbin and Chuck Schumer, both of whom represent everything that Rubio stands against.
Rubio, as well as every single member of the U.S. Congress, should have pushed the federal government to enforce existing border security laws that would all but secure both the U.S. southern and northern borders.
The smart move by Rubio and others is to press upon Americans that the issue along the border is not just an immigration problem, but rather a larger national security issue that threatens the American way of life.
Radical Islam is already knocking on our door.

Marco Rubio doesn't want to solve problems, he wants to be President, two very different things.

I totally agree. One of the things that concern me about anyone of Cuban background is that we are not far enough away generationally speaking from the Cuban amnesties granted to boat people by Kennedy. Emotionally, it is totally natural for them to feel for those seeking amnesty. and difficult to criticize others for seeking what their parents received. IMO, it is dangerous at this time to consider them for high office. That does not make them bad people, just options to be very cautiously approached. Maybe three more generation?
