Thread: Can someone explain?

NBC Datelines' show tonight was all about the so called "Russian Spies".

I am now convinced this whole spy thing was just a deversion to get our attention off,the economy,the deficit,immigration & the law suit,gulf oil spill,the mid term elections,etc,etc.

Another thing I noticed; they had NO problem quickley deporting these "Spies" and their children.No one seemed to worry about traumatizing these kids who were born in the USA.They kept refering to the parents as "Illegals" who used false ID.

I really think Obama is about to go off the deep end........... Nuts and Narcisistic.

Richard, we are having to pass laws to even be allowed to make an accurate count. Mostly Hispanics are considered as white. The school district just sent papers home that we can identify our culture as Hispanic but we also have to identify our race. There is no Hispanic racial identity on the form.

We have all tried to be civil in our disagreeance with your acceptance of the official numbers and present to you rational reasons why we do not accept official numbers but you wish to call it "moonshot" and suggest mind-altering drugs normally given to the mentally ill? I have been ignoring your hostility leakage problem but if you are angry about the lack of exclusivity here and need a more moderated place perhaps you should find one although honestly I can tell you in advance that they will not tolerate your hostility for one second. I have seen people banned from forums for much less. I for one won't put up with it and I can just as easily leave as I came and go back to working directly with the race-baiters which may actually be more productive than staying amongst people who already agree.

The Hispanic population is not typically white it is racially mixed mestizo, mulato or a combination of both. There are large numbers who are mostly White. Totally White Hispanics are relatively rare. None of these for instance though one is a New York celebrity from a family with a billion dollar business empire. All are actually racially mixed and just the way most Americans and most Latinos would characterize them is different.

Also the estimate of thirty million shows a complete detachment from reality. It implies that every Hispanic who does not prove other wise to those giving that estimate is here illegally. There are not enough Hispanics in the United States that the total population minus thity million would yield the number that are here legally. Even adding in the 20% of illegals that are not Latino the figure is nowhere near as high as thirty million. Acute paranoid xenophobia is not patriotic.

Arguing demographics here is like discussing space science with people on a subway car with one person from the Smithsonian, one from Harvard and one from MIT and five from the readership of the Weekly World News. It is like trying to discuss finer points of avian dinosaur evolutionary physiognomy with creationists.

Thanks for that post. But when you have left slanted figures at 12 million you can figure they are at least off by half.

Well I do agree with you Richard that arguing demographics at this point in time is rather moot, but not because I wish to insult anybody's intelligence, simply because I know that we have not yet passed the laws that allow us to even count! Sorry you are so unhappy with our level of intelligence and education - perhaps you are the one who is misplaced.

How can you know how many Hispanics are here if most of them are classified as "white?" There is no "Hispanic" racial designation. Doesn't take a rocket scientist with a bunch of five dollar words.

My ear is not so well trained. I know the Cubans speak like bullets and the Mexicans I can understand a bit better. It is true that we have so many other immigrants from other nations such as Costa Rica and Venezuela that it is crazy for me to tell by accent - but my husband can. But if there is division within that community I am not seeing it. They all want their free benefits and they all want their amnesty.

This is familiar. Many Chinese came to the U.S. as Vietnamese refugees also I am told by my friends in that community.
