I wholeheartedly agree, but the more places I go the more I hear people saying the same thing. They are saying why vote when the choices are so poor.
I agree this election is "CRITICAL". For anyone to say "why vote when the choices are so poor", is going to make matters worse.
Can anyone imagine having Hillary as our next president? If so, you might as well move off the entire continent. She will destroy America in her very 1st term.
We need to find a politician who has all or most of the pros we are looking for, and "mold" him into what we expect in a president. And then we need to back them up and get them noticed by the MSM. I like Ron Paul, Tancredo and Hunter, in that order.

While I agree, who would that be, a true patriot would never be elected
because the media and the wealthy corporations would never allow it.

I believe the only option is a third party candidate brought forward by
the public and funded by working Americans. Would that be possible, not
sure but it may be our only hope at this point.
I'm old with many opinions few solutions.

I'm also affraid of fraude but we have to try.
Ron Paul is gainning momentum, but he is saying he will not run for a third party.
I think in a third party it will be much difficult especially with the vote "machines" we have at the polls.
If any other of the democrats or republicans (except Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo Duncan Hunter ) winn this election, America will be lost, this is my fear and preocupation.
I AGREE WITH YOU he HAS to run even in a third party , it will be our las hope.

I agree. Third Party is the way to go. And people saying, "it will never happen," are the very reason it hasn't, and are playing right into the monopolistic power of the Republicrats. If (and unfortunately probably) our candidates don't win, we need to direct our efforts at them running third party, or independent.

If we vote for Rudy just because Hillary sux, we are playing the same ball game that landed us arguably the worst president in history.......Rudy might hold that title next. Honestly, tell me ONE thing Rudy has over Hillary. Except Rudy wanting the next neoconservative war, they are virtually the same person, who enjoy to wear the same things.

I bet IF Al Gore wanted to run, he could trample all over Hillary and Obama, IF he took on an "anti-illegal immigration" stance. I am serious.

I agree. It may be a long shot, and we would have to bank on him not selling out.....but if he did run against amnesty, he would destroy Hillary. It would not even be a flip-flop. He would just have to run on his voting record while in the Senate, which was even better than Ron Paul's.

Why is it with the crisis so advanced and awareness so high, Both here and in Europe and yet we stand the very real possibility that we could have a new president that is very pro amnesty and open borders?
    Two words: false dichotomy.

In America, at least, I think much of the problem is that we treat politics like a team sport. We think that it's the Republicans against the Democrats, and it is often implied, in media and by the parties, that "We're right, they're wrong, and we don't agree on anything". Everyone is encouraged to pull for their team fanatically, to defend it blindly when the ref makes an unfavorable call, and that the opponents have no virtue or worthwhile insight. An example would be 'If you vote Republican, you don't care about the environment'.

This kind of blind loyalty leads directly to voting for the lesser of two evils, because Americans believe they only have two choices: us or them? They never realize that there are other, potentially better options available to them. With this sort of mentality, people try to 'look at the big picture' and play politics. What they are really doing is selling themselves short by supporting a guy who won't represent them well. And then they get angry, like they were somehow misled. But it's exactly what they voted for: the lesser of two evils.

As Americans learn that 'Democrat' and 'Republican' are two heads of the same beast, we will see more informed voters. As long as people are willing to do as they are told by the media or by their political party, we're going to suffer from poor voting choices. It is unbelievable that someone like Fred Thompson has 26% of the GOP vote right now, but many have the impression that he is a good candidate. The impression, mind you - not the reality. They've probably never heard him speak once.

This kind of feeds into why the Founders wanted only land owners to be eligible for voting. They had a personal stake in America and would take the time to consider the issues.

The best thing people can do for America is to stop voting for the lesser of two evils and start "throwing their vote away" on the person they really believe would represent them well.
