It doesn't matter which weasel is elected, they're a couple of Bobsey twins on this issue, IMHO. We just need to keep the HEAT on at ALL TIMES and never let up!

I am worried that we may not be able to overcome the relentless amnesty bills going in front of congress.
IMO, our fight in the coming year will be tougher. Not impossible, but tougher. So far we've had the votes (thanks in great part to the Republicans) to repel amnesty. However, I think it's a well known fact that we are in serious jeopardy of losing a lot of Republican seats in the U.S. Congress during the upcoming election cycle. To make matters worse, we're also losing some of our best allies to retirement.

I hate to say it but I think the continued worsening of our economy could be our savior. It's a lot easier to justify an increase in the foreign labor, including the legalization of illegals, when the economy is soundly growing and unemployment is down to 4 or 5%. However, the opposite will happen if our economy continues on a downward trend and the unemployment rate reaches 8,9, maybe even 10%. As an added bonus, the evaporating jobs will force Americans to fight for what the believe they're entitled to (American jobs). A worsening economy is a double-edged sword but it's not always possible to have your cake and eat it too.

Remember, during the Great Depression, Hoover, ordered the deportation of illegals to make jobs available to American citizens that needed work. And then again in 1954, Eisenhower deported over a million illegals to make jobs available to our returning WWII and Korean War veterans. If we could deport over a million in 1954, it shouldn't be difficult to deport 13 million today! It would take several years but it could be done.

Enforcement of our laws makes the illegals shake in their boots. Look at what the raids are doing to the OBL crowd. Take away any benefits and no more anchor babies and they will leave in droves and there won't be anymore coming back.

An amnesty bill crafted during a McCain presidency would probably be harder to stop. He has always done things that were out of step with his party's core and he may not even desire a second term. Obama, on the other hand, has proven himself to be a Clinton-like politician. What I mean by that is that he has shown few qualms about waffling on issues where the position he originally stated was not well-received by the voting public. He's ambitious and might not be willing to sign an amnesty bill that would likely cost him a second term.

    Just my opinion ...

I remember not so long ago, we beat back some of the most powerful lobbying interest that wanted the Mc Lame & Kenndy Amnesty Bill, we not only defeated them but shook the very ground of washington itself and shut down the phone system, we sent the open borders lobby reeling and they didnt know what hit them, remember we are not alone in this fight and yes we can beat them again. They are afraid of us and they should be

The platform in Obama's campaign is to open the borders to all Illegal Aliens; to offer them Social Security which they have never paid into; to offer jobs to Illegals even though Americans are qualified for those jobs; and he has already stated that he feels that Illegal Aliens should be given total Amnesty.

Personally, I feel that an Amnesty bill by Obama would be much harder to stop. At least McCain's Republican constituents would be able to more effectively combat the Give-Away Dance that the Socialist factions within the Democratic Party are planning and McCain would be more apt to listen. He has already been convinced that Border Security is important for America. He has to come to realize that Amnesty would be a mistake.

    Welcome, Bobowobo and forTheSakeOfLegality!!!

IMHO, there are 2 keys to BEATING an OBL President/Congress:

    1) JOINING AN ACTIVE ORGANIZATION LIKE ALIPAC

    2) SPREADING THE WORD BY EMAIL AND TALKING TO YOUR FRIENDS/COWORKERS/NEIGHBORS/FAMILY ABOUT THE ISSUE RESPECTFULLY.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. You will gain that knowledge right here in ALIPAC. To harness this power constructively, joining a PAC to focus on a unified action call is as powerful as you can get.

This is how we defeated all the amnesties in the recent past. We all banded together - FAIR, NumbersUSA, CAPS, ALIPAC, etc. -- to flood Congress with phone calls ON A SPECIFIC DAY.

WE are the reason why all amnesties (general, agjobs, Dreamers) have failed. ALIPAC WAS AN INSTRUMENTAL PART OF THIS UNITED EFFORT.

So welcome, and we hope you will join us when the call comes from W to take action. (btw, W is William Gheen, President and Founder of Alipac. He just signs his posts as W. )
