Catholic school sued over ‘English only’ policy

WICHITA — Four Hispanic families are suing St. Anne’s Catholic School over a policy that requires students to speak English at all times while at school.

The lawsuit, filed Monday, calls for an end to the policy and asks for an order barring similar policies at other diocese schools. It seeks the return of one student to the school who was allegedly kicked out for refusing to sign the “English onlyâ€

The irony is that the Catholic Church has fought perhaps harder than anyone for illegals in this country. I don't think most of these foreign nationals have any allegiance to anyone or anything in this country, and their political allies should realize they are playing with fire.

Private schools do not receive federal money. Free & reduced lunches are for the students benefit, not the schools.

The school has 71 other hispanic students and the 27 Asian students have no problem with the policy, why do 4 have a problem? There is no reason to speak another language in schools, it is rude when others don't understand what you are saying.

This should be thrown out and they can exercise their right to go to another school.

Bite the hand that feeds you? Inner city Catholic schools and churches have been encouraging illegal aliens for 20 years, Spanish Mass and
any other way of filling the schools that suffered declining enrollment
because of "white flight".

The Catholic Church is a business that is exempt from many laws other
enterprises have to abide by. A key to there success in educating children
has been discipline, speaking Spanish in school by American citizens
encourages disruption.

Exactly my sentiments miguelina! We can't cater to every ethnic group just because they are inconvenienced in having to speak the native tongue..English in this case. This is a free country...if you don't like what you see, go somewhere else. It's as simple as that.

This is AMERICA........ If you dont like it go back to YOUR home.

The Americans are now getting the screws put to them in all areas they can get it done to them, seems these people who come over here are DEMANDING that their " RIGHTS " come first and before anyone else, more less catering to them, so their are no LAWSUITS.
