Don't link these two issues! Stop it now!

GAY marriage has always been a core conservative REPUBLUCAN issue. Immigration or no immigration! The Supreme Court is taking up a case on AFFIRMATIVE ACTION. Another conservative issue.

Trying to make Bush look bad NOW as if this is a diversion from immigration is stupid. I cannot believe so many off you are making this accusation or claim.

This is a core conservative REPUBLICAN issue that people voted for Bush to have him address.

Don't try and link the two please! Don't go there!

If you like GAY marriage OK but leave immigration out of it please!
The Democrats want to give the country away and the Republicans want to sell it?

I think the gay thing just got to be a hot topic because the Republicans think it will take the heat off the border and maybe 280 million Americans will forget we are being invaded. I also think they better guess again.

Personally, I couldn't care less what non-pedophile gays do one way or another, I think the whole issue is nothing but a smoke screen. Neither the president nor anyone else is going to do anything to the gays. In my opinion, they are skating on pretty thin ice and they know it-- ALL of them, not just the Republicans. Next they will start rattling sabres against abortions trying to gain back some support. Another hot button. Anything to divide the nation over something other than the fact that we are being invaded by another country while they sit on their asses and watch it happen.

Adelante, the problem that many people seem to have is the "timing" of this.

President Bush knows full well, that right now our country is dealing with the problem of illegal immigration. The question is, WHY would he choose NOW to bring up a heated issue like this ??

It's difficult to understand. It "appears" to be that he is trying to rally some of his base who are extremely angry with him regarding illegal immigration.

I do not think it was in the best interest of our country to attempt to deal with this other issue at this time.

Would you agree that the timing is extremely questionable ?

Which is stupid, because this will only affect the true believers who will stick with him no matter what.

Nobody else is going to buy this, regardless of how they feel about gay marriage. Boob bait for Bubbas is what this is.

Since there's not a chance on earth of this amendment getting a supermajority in either the House or Senate, it's nothing but a cynical political manuever, as the flag burning amendment will be when it gets introduced next.
It's like hell vomited and the Bush administration appeared.

I think the sudden switch to gay marriage is being used to divert attention from the immigration debate, and to rally the christan conservative republican base who he has angred from immigration. I think every law abiding american citizen should have the same rights, regardless of their sexual orientation.

You just linked the two together, http://www.alipac.us/modules.php?name=F ... ic&t=30366

I couldn't agree with you more, JJ. That is I also don't care what non-pedophile gays do (as long as they do it behind closed doors and don't bother the rest of us).

Sure, I agree it is a smoke screen of sorts to obscure a much more important issue facing our nation and that is illegal immigration. It's also a smokescreen I believe to obscure another important issue and that is the high divorce rate among heterosexuals and the resulting harm to adults, children and society by the breakup of families and the extortion racket known as family domestic law that reaps in billions every year by these divorces. This issue too I believe was brought about through communistic efforts - divide and conquer families, create fatherless children, welfare dependency, bankruptcy, etc.

Let's keep the focus on illegal immigration. Gay Marriage is not our issue. There is nothing more to say about it other than Bush is trying to use it to change the topic and raise his poll numbers.

That being said, let's all move on. Someone else brings up the subject just repeat the same thing written here over and over again.

We have absolutely nothing to gain by debating gay marriage on the alipac boards.

Okay! I will respect your wishes and not post another new thread except this. Sometimes these issues are interwoven as mentioned in the posts. Communistic ideals are rampant in the USA they are all undermining our way of life not only with illegal immigration but other topics mentioned here. It's all connected in one way or another.
