    Conference committee?

So is the conference committee between the House and Senate re:2611 meeting already, or has it not yet been formed?

First the House and Senate must each select their conferees.

Senate selected their conferees and I expect the House did as well. It was my impression that they would begin right away/today but I've heard nothing so far. We need to keep our ears open and call some our Congressman for info.........I have elections/primaries tomorrow so I'm wondering, were they waiting for this to be over?

They're trying to keep the conferees UNDER COVER so that we don't decend upon them!

Right now, they are wrangling over a few things...primary among those things they are wrangling over is an attempt to bring the Senate's bill before the full Congress. Also, there seems to be a constitutional snafo as well...seems the Senate introduced some things that have to originate in the Congress.

I am hoping this all means that the whole thing goes BYE BYE for this year, and it can be taken up AFTER the fall elections, since everyone will know they have to be pro enforcement and anti AMNESTY to get elected.

FRIST is looking to circumvent the Constitutional issue by
Attaching this mess to a completely different bill!

The Constitutional snaffoo is over the "budget/MONEY" included in the Senate bill which lies with the House. So, Frist being the sneaky creep that he and the others are, wants to sneak it into another piece of legislation that has nothing to do with Immigration or ILLEGALS.

Parliamentary tactics, points of order, blue slips, etc. are all part of the process. I already called on those who claim to be on our side to employ any and all legal parliamentary tactics to prevent amnesty from becoming law. There is more to it than a simple voting record on a piece of legislation, although that is certainly a factor in the equation. There are many ways to kill a bill but there are also many ways to sneak a bill through. But notice that Republican Senate Majority Frist leader is on "THEIR SIDE" and senate majority leader is obviously a key position.

I've been hoping that Hastert will stick to his guns and NOT allow the bill into the House without 'majority of majority'.

    (Hello everyone, my first post).

    Who is in control?

What a lot of people don't realize is if nothing emerges from committee before the elections and both chambers are won by Democrats there will be no enforcement and the senate travesty s2611 may be approved by both chambers in it's entirety. The Democrats are even more pro-open borders and pro amnesty than the Republicans, although both parties are worthless.
