Clinton to Latino audience: Trump has doubled down on anti-immigrant policies

Los Angeles (CNN)Hillary Clinton told a Latino audience here on Thursday that Donald Trump is doubling down on his promises to deport immigrants and build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The comments -- which came during a contentious rally that saw a series of protesters -- are an attempt by Clinton to undercut the Republican nominee with Latinos and cast doubt at Trump's ability to moderate his views now that he has all but clinched the Republican nomination. Trump and his aides have hinted that he would moderate his views as the nominee in an attempt to woo less conservative voters, something the Clinton campaign wants to prevent.

"We have to recognize that the kind of language coming from Donald Trump is hateful and we need to repudiate it. Now every election is a choice, and just yesterday, Donald Trump doubled down on his plan to create a deportation force to round up millions of people."

Clinton then listed Trump's immigration positions, including his promises to build a wall along the border and "scrap" President Barack Obama's executive orders on immigration.

"Well," Clinton said to cheers, "the best way to prevent that from happening is to make sure he never gets near the White House."

Protests took place both inside and outside Clinton's event at East Los Angeles College in the heavily Latino neighborhood of Monterey Park. Dozens of protesters, with officers mounted on horseback standing in front of the event, chanted and spoke outside.

At least five protesters attempted to interrupt Clinton's remarks inside the event. Most of their chants were drowned out by Clinton's supporters and the candidate only obliquely mentioned them.

"I think we would be a lot better off if we actually talked to each other instead of yelling at each other," Clinton said. "Let the other side do the yelling."

Clinton did, however, keep her remarks shorter than normal, wrapping up what is usually a 25-minute speech in 15 minutes.

Clinton's event is part of a two-day swing through California, whose primary will be held on June 7. Clinton headlined two fundraisers in Los Angeles on Thursday and met with top African American city officials. Clinton will travel to Northern California on Friday, where she will headline a rally in Oakland.

We need a President with common sense, intelligence and an unwavering loyalty to the American People. That's a TRUMP, not a Clinton.

Pandering to or for illegal aliens is not loyalty to the American People, Hillary. Playing around with a private server when you're Secretary of State is not common sense, Hillary. Telling miners and coal companies you're going to bring 'em $30 billion in new jobs with money you don't have and we don't have so you can put coal miners out of work by putting the coal companies out of business is not intelligence.

You're about to tie yourself to the tracks and the Trump Train is coming round the bend.

Hellery has to get Latinos to vote for her because we American voters have figured her out a long time ago.

Latino Americans will figure her out too, and realize how she's exploited them by supporting massive immigration and free trade treason that undercuts their lives, jobs, incomes and futures and then sends them the bill to pay for the damages.

Clinton...shut your pie hole. You are anti-American lying corrupt criminal and I don't know how you can look at yourself in the mirror everyday. You have millions in the bank...go retire and take Pelosi, Reid, McCain and the rest of your destructive clan with you.

It's her ambition. Ambition is a good thing in some environments. But ambition in politics is really quite unseemly and as we've come to know, very dangerous.

Now that Donald Trump is the presumptive Republican nominee for President of the United States, Democrats like Hillary Clinton are reviewing tape from the last few months and slapping them on ads against him.

This is now the third ad Hillary has released this week and the most brutal so far.

This probably won’t affect the Republican base since their lives are all about cognitive dissonance.

But it’s all here: Donald Trump’s racism against blacks and Hispanics. His misogyny. His coddling of racists like the KKK.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren is also in a gloves off Twitter war with Donald Trump. She actually tears him a new one which is amazing.

In another time and place it would be surprising to see a candidate for President using her advertising dollars to promote David Duke, the KKK and white supremacists. But when it comes to the Clintons and Elizabeth Warren, there is no low too low for them to stoop.

Won't work. Her ads so far are a huge fail.

Oops! It's only early May and she's already played all her 2 cards. Poor Hillary.

Meanwhile back at the Tower, Trump has a full deck of 54 cards, arranging them all in a very neat, specific, strategic and unpredictable order, ready to fling 'em like darts starting at the perfect time.
