Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton caused an uproar late Friday after telling a fundraiser audience that half of Republican nominee Donald Trump's supporters could be described as part of a "basket of deplorables."

The former secretary of state, who described her own remarks as "grossly generalistic", said Trump had bolstered people who are "racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, you name it." She did add that Trump's other supporters are frustrated by hard times and merit sympathy.

"They are just desparate for change," Clinton said. "They don't buy everything [Trump] says, but he seems to hold out some hope that their lives will be different.

Clinton was speaking at an LGBT fundraiser in New York City, where she encouraged supporters to "stage an intervention" if they have friends considering voting for the Republican nominee.

"That may be one conversion therapy I'd endorse," said Clinton, referring to a type of counseling designed to urge gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender children to change their sexual orientation. The Democratic nominee later clarified that she wants to end the practice.

Singer Barbra Streisand, who performed at the fundraiser, altered the lyrics of the Stephen Sondheim song "Send In The Clowns" to mock Trump, referring to the real estate mogul as a "sad, vulgar clown."

She is a miserable excuse for a human being in my opinion. I have often thought that she drags her slimy trail of corruption after her like the slime slick behind a giant slug.

CNN is actually setting up "panels" to justify Clinton's statements. They simply say that the "half" was wrong and such a statement that she made was "politically incorrect".

No, CNN. The statement was false. The statement without a "half" was false. The statement was a lie about people she doesn't know, people she's never met, people she knows nothing about. It was a despicable form of hate speech against innocent people, a false label, a false characterization, an evil attempt to divide people based on false labels.

People who want to fix our trade deals so they don't bankrupt our country are not xenophobic.

People who want to stop illegal immigration and enforce our laws are not racist.

People who want to pause to better vet foreign Muslim migration into the United States to prevent terrorism in our country are not Islamophobic.

People who want to bring our good manufacturing jobs back home are not sexist or homophobic.

People who want to upgrade our military and infrastructure and fix our Veterans Administration system are not bigots.

People who want to fix our country and make it safe, sovereign, prosperous and great again are not deplorable.

CNN and other Mainstream Media who are "trying to figure out why voters support Trump" need to go back to 3rd Grade. Voters support Donald Trump because he loves our country, loves our people, loves success, loves winning, and wants to fix our country. Voters who want to end racism, unemployment, poverty and decline in the United States support Trump. Voters who want to continue the status quo of inequality, unemployment, poverty and decline in the United States support Clinton.

It's that simple.

Trump Supporters need to boycott Hollywood. Trump Supporters need to boycott Facebook. Trump Supporters need to boycott Starbucks. Trump Supporters need to boycott the big donors and supporters of Hillary Clinton.

It's time to do more than just stand up and speak out for the policies we want to fix our country. It's time to put our money where our mouths are and make sure the opposition gets as little of it as possible, and that means the businesses behind illegal immigration, massive legal immigration, free trade treason and foreign wars.

Trump Supporters could bankrupt these businesses before the election if they would simply withhold purchases from these entities, and that includes the owners of the NFL, starting with Opening Game Day tomorrow. I realize missing an afternoon of Sunday and Monday football is a big sacrifice, however, this is our country we're talking about. Take a drive, rent an old movie from Red Box, play cards, clean the house, trim the bushes, do anything that doesn't include watching football.
