Sunday on CNN’s “Fareed Zakaria GPS,” host Fareed Zakaria said that under the leadership of President Donald Trump, America was “becoming irrelevant” to the rest of the world.

He said, “The world has gone through bouts of anti-Americanism before. But this one feels very different. First, there is the sheer shock at what is going on, the bizarre candidacy of Donald Trump, which has been followed by an utterly chaotic presidency.”

Citing a recent Pew study, he continued, “People around the world increasingly believe that they can make do without America. Trump’s presidency has made the U.S. something worse than being feared or derided. It is becoming irrelevant.”

People around the world increasingly believe that they can make do without America.

Please God, let it be true. Please leave us alone, stay in your own countries, pay your own way through life in your own country at your own expense.

Good...people around the World can make do WITHOUT our money too.

Cut all foreign aid by 50%...then another 25% the following year and WEAN them OFF our money.

We need to fix our own problems.

What is becoming irrelevant, however, is the news media. That is a sad and frightening thing to consider. We need a good, fair and courageous news media.

Last night, I came across a speech given by Nigel Farage, to the media. He told them that needed to change, they were already had fewer people paying attention to them. He said (not verbatim), if they didn't change, he could come back here (to speak to journalist, I presume) in five years, and they wouldn't be here.

He talked of how just mundane TV shows, food shows, etc., threw in little digs against Brexit.

We see that in our movies, TV shows, even music (what passes for entertainment these days). Remember during the housing insanity how many shows were on the air regarding buying and selling housing. We had a couple of versions of 'house hunters', and 'house flipping', 'sell your house', etc. In my opinion, that was getting people in a fever to buy homes. The threw around horrendous prices for homes, making it seem ordinary and people fell for it.

How many times on a police show, or legal show, do you hear them tell an illegal, 'we aren't here for that'. In other words, making it unimportant. It goes from that to outright support for illegals thrown into the dialogue of the show.

We need to make them even more irrelevant than they already are.

Really, I've always seen the media was somewhat left leaning and not above going along with an agenda, but amidst all that, we actually got news of what was happening in our own country and world. Now all we get is regurgitated ugliness.

It is still hard for me to believe the news media has become the frenzied, insane thing it has. There is no semblance or pretense of even being a news media. It's all about putting forth the idea that somehow Pres. Trump is going to destroy this country.

If this country has almost survived the missteps and deliberate bad actions of the last 3 presidencies, we must be a pretty strong country. Somehow the news media wants everyone to believe that Pres. Trump is going to be able to destroy it?
