Brian Bilbray on Joe Baca's 5-year visa amnesty scheme
FYI:
Congressman Brian Bilbray, head of the Immigration Reform Caucus, was just on the John & Ken Show (2/21) and gave an update on (Democrat and amnesty proponent) Joe Baca's 5-year visa amnesty scheme.
Basically, Baca found out that 47 House Democrats agree with enforcement of laws as the priority (referring to Heath Shuler's SAVE Act), along with about 90 Republicans.
Baca now looking to try to tag amnesty onto this to stop this (enforcement) bill. But he found out that twice as many Blue Dog Democrats are willing to join in these efforts (illegal immigration control) than there are members of the Latino Caucus (?).
SAVE is a national policy effort to do what Arizona has done, with teeth in it; Steve King's idea to eliminate the tax deduction out of employing illegals -- turn the immigration "INS" issue into a "IRS issue" where employers of illegals would be subject to tax audit.
Does Baca's 5-year visa plan have chance to pass? Bilbray advised to "keep our powder dry" and it may be needed to rally the troops (with talk radio etc.) TO KEEP AMNESTY OFF.
He also said Shuler (a Democrat) was dragged into the Democratic leadership's office (Pelosi) about his act. But 47 Democrats have signed onto the SAVE Act immigration enforcement bill as they want to get reelected.
Bilbray was asked what solid evidence would you need to see that the border is secured? His response: when he can drive down his street and know (see) it.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

You're welcome Phred.
I know activists are working on calling states now, but if you have the chance, please follow the recent NumbersUSA alert and call your Reps and Senators and urge them to oppose Baca's 5-year visa amnesty scheme and support Heath Shuler's SAVE Act.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Five-year Amnesty Bill Under Discussion
Some House Democrats are having behind-the-scenes discussions about creating a special visa for illegal aliens they believe will enjoy considerable Republican support. Under the plan, illegal aliens who can prove they have jobs and pass a criminal background check will receive the gift of legal status for 5 years. The plan is designed to attract pro-business Republicans and those who backed the McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill by also increasing the number of visas issued for technical, temporary and agricultural workers.

I'm proud to say that rookie Heath Shuler is my Congressman! I'll write to him and see if he will comment on his reprimand from Pelosi!

Yes, I'm working on friends too. Looks like Numbersusa is spreading ans so is American Solutions. Some of my friends don't have time for forums and activism at our level but they can fax and make two or three calls that Numbersusa asks us to do. Every little bit helps.
Good for Schuler. I called his office and asked what we can do to help. They said, get more of the constituents to know about the bill and have them call.
I also talked to Bilbray's office a few days ago. They said the same thing.
I sure would like to know what Pelosi said and I would love to see the Bluedog Democrats stand up to her. Tell her, "you want to stay in your position, you work with us. Period."
Ya, these debates pandering to illegals is one thing, getting it passed is another thing. Getting re-elected is another. I bet talk radio is hitting hard on the debate last night on the illegal immigration thing. We may see Obama's glow start dimming.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
