CNN MOCKS MILLION VET MARCH AS TEA PARTY CRAZIES

by BEN SHAPIRO 13 Oct 2013, 12:17 PM PDT 2250 POST A COMMENT

CNN.com covered Sunday’s “Million Vet March” in Washington D.C. against the Obama administration’s closure of military memorials by castigating the marchers as Tea Party kooks and fringe crazies. “At tea party-like rally, Obama told to ‘put the Quran down,’” the headline read. CNN derided the size of the crowd:

The rally, billed as the "Million Vet March on the Memorials," drew far fewer than a million people and evolved into a protest that resembled familiar tea party events from 2009, with yellow "Don't Tread On Me" flags throughout the crowd and strong anti-Obama language from the podium and the audience. One speaker went as far as saying the president was a Muslim and separately urged the crowd of hundreds to initiate a peaceful uprising.
CNN focused on one speaker, Larry Klayman, whom it quoted as stating, “I call upon all of you to wage a second American nonviolent revolution, to use civil disobedience, and to demand that this president leave town, to get up, to put the Quran down, to get up off his knees, and to figuratively come out with his hands up.”
CNN then tried to lump in former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in with Klayman: “High-profile speakers with close ties to the tea party appeared at the event, including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.”
CNN then featured the fringiest elements of the protest it could find:
Anti-Obama sentiments echoed throughout the crowd Sunday, with one protester yelling out "punk" to describe the president and one speaker saying Obama is not the president of "the" people but "his" people. Multiple signs read "Impeach Obama." At least one vulgar sign could be seen, which was directed more toward Republicans. It read "You can't be a conservative and a p**sy too."
CNN never covered Occupy Wall Street or the “Million Muslim March” on September 11 in such fashion.

MSNBC Upset Over Fox Rating – Something Fishy is Going On

The president of MSNBC is whining over the unfairness of his network being soundly beaten by FOX News. "Phil Griffin, president of MSNBC, says there's something fishy about Tuesday's ratings for the Fox News Channel, which were up significantly when Fox News debuted its new schedule. And he wants an investigation." If Mr. Griffin thinks he has problems, perhaps he should put himself in Speaker John Boehner's shoes. Shoes I don't particularly admire, by the way.

Boehner got blamed for supporting the sequester, which was actually President Obama's idea. He got blamed in the polls for standing tough on the un-funding of Obamacare, and then got blamed when he caved on it. He is getting blamed for "shutting down the government," which is sorta' ridiculous when you consider that 86% of all federal employees are still working, which is probably a higher attendance level than on any given work day.

And are the other "non-essential" 14% just getting an extra paid vacation? If by recently enacted law we are paying them while they are not working, why don't we let them work? Costs the same, doesn't it? It is interesting to note that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) which controls so much of our lives, identified 94.4% of its employees as being "non-essential," and not required to stay on the job. That should tell us something!

Meanwhile, polls are saying that Republicans are being slaughtered in public opinion. NBC reports:

"The Republican Party has been badly damaged in the ongoing government shutdown and debt limit standoff, with a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finding that a majority of Americans blame the GOP for the shutdown, and with the party's popularity declining to its lowest level. By a 22-point margin (53 percent to 31 percent), the public blames the Republican Party more for the shutdown than President Barack Obama – a wider margin of blame for the GOP than the party received during the last shutdown in 1995-96."

Of coursec the poll cited was taken of 800 persons in Washington DC, with 11% more Democrats being called than Republicans. My guess is that they were mostly the vacationing Federal employees, since Republicans were probably at work during the calling period.

Politicians always cite polls that are favorable to them, and dismiss those that aren't. It's important that we keep in mind that most of the polls we hear about are conducted by the same news organizations that report them. Of course, polls are supposed to reflect fair and balanced public opinion. The truth is, they are seldom fair, and never balanced, as noted in the above example.

Why? Well, polls are generally created to serve either one of two purposes: To either create public opinion or to influence it. It's a vicious circle. The media reports a story, calls to ask you what you think of it, and then publishes a poll to tell you what you told them you thought of it. (Do you need to read that last sentence over again?)

If the current polls reflect negatively on the Republican Party, is the unfavorability caused by the emergence on the scene of outspoken Conservatives such as Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and Rand Paul, as the media would like you to believe; or the result of the spineless leadership of establishment Republicans, the likes of John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, Lindsay Graham and John McCain?

The growth of Conservative "tea party" groups all over the country, the civil disobedience of aged WW II veterans seeking to visit the Washington memorial erected in their honor, and the hundreds of 18-wheelers rumbling through the streets of the nation's capital, might suggest the latter.

Million Veterans Gather at War Memorials Fed Up With Washington and the Government Shutdown

    Posted on October 13, 2013 by BMartin1776

Vets are taking a stand today in DC and other parts of the country sending a clear message they are fed up with this tyrannical govt. The vets are setting the tone we the people need to take up and carry on. We cannot rely on vets and conservative radio/ tv personalities to do the hard work we the people are charged to do in The Declaration of Independence!
“… when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”
Keyboard Patriotism this time around is not enough to combat the progressive takeover and destruction of America. Civil disobedience as we are seeing today must continue. We must make a presence not only in DC but throughout the country at all state capitals. Elected leaders need to see we do not fear them and more importantly we surround them!

It’s rather dusty in here. Tears.
Patriots descended upon Washington, D.C., on Sunday for the Million Veterans March, which protested the Spite House’s Barrycades, particularly the ones at memorials for America’s bravest.
    This patriot moved everyone.

    God bless him, indeed.
As Twitchy reported, Barrycades at several memorials were torn down and transported to the White House, where march attendees peaceably assembled. They also delivered the Barrycades to the Spite House: “Return to sender,” baby!
These photos, however, are the most touching and poignant.

Special Operations Speaks (SOS) calls out CNN on ‘Million Vet March’ comments

(Kelly Almond of Paulding County, GA, U.S. Marine Corp veteran)

    Christopher Collins
    Paulding County Republican Examiner
    October 14, 2013

On Monday, Special Operations Speaks (SOS) called out CNN for its remarks it made on Sunday when it mockedthe “Million Vet March” in Washington D.C. against the Obama administration’s closure of military memorials by rebuking the marchers as Tea Party kooks and fringe crazies.

Special Operations Speaks (SOS) penned an open letter to CNN that it does support the Tea Party movement, their feeble and failed attempt to mute the national enthusiasm for the Vet March, and that it does not mind the ridicule from their network and other left leaning news organizations, but that they only ask that if they decide to ridicule them, that CNN gets their name right.

    The letter reads:

    “Dear CNN,
The Million Vet March on the World War II Memorial was among the largest, most compelling, inspiring and inventive acts of civil disobedience in American history…and you knew it and blew it.
You knew it because your reporter Shannon Travis, a very cordial gentleman who was wearing a stylish purple tie was present at the rally. He told Special Operations Speaks before an interview that he loved the passion of the rally. Mr. Travis undoubtedly observed the make-up of the attendees of the crowd as 80-90% veterans and 10-20% veteran supporters.
In your feeble and failed attempt to mute the national enthusiasm for the Vet March you reported the event as a “tea party like rally”.
Not speaking for all veterans, Special Operations Speaks embraces and admires the Tea Party’s support for our nations veterans and points out that not one occupy, amnesty, union, Democratic or liberal organization showed up to stand with the Vets…just the tea party.
If your editors must label this group, we insist that you label us “Vet Marchers”.
Labeling the Million Vet March as “tea party like rally” because some tea partiers showed up with “yellow Don't Tread On Me flags” [btw, someone really ought to inform your writer that they are called Gadsden flags; look it up] doesn’t mean it was a “tea party like rally”.
If one follows that logic, one might state that because some of CNN's executives, editors and reporters lean so far to the left, that CNN is a ‘Communist-like News Network’. That would not be a fair assessment, would it?
Special Operations Speaks does not mind the ridicule from your network and other left leaning news organizations. We have grown quite accustomed to it and find it amusing. We simply ask that if you ridicule us, you get our name right.
Please in the future call us Vet Marchers or next time we remove the barricades from the war memorials we might bring them to your doorstep.”
This is not the first time CNN called out military veterans in attempt to exaggerate intentions by veterans.
A report was revealed that in August 2012, CNN exaggerated GOP links of Obama critics who are military veterans.
In that report, Matt Hadro of MRC reported that CNN said, “A new group of veterans, including former Navy SEALs, accuses President Obama of taking too much credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden. The group says it is nonpartisan. But a CNN investigation finds it has close links to the Republican Party.”
“Harping on the "partisan" connections of a group of military veterans criticizing President Obama, likening it to Swift Boat, yet it has helped further liberal partisan attacks in the past through its own biased coverage,”said Hadro.
“And CNN should look more closely at its own double standard, having praised and given generous airtime to Democratic talking points versus grilling veteran soldiers over their alleged GOP agenda.”
