My God...Unbelievable. Just received this alert from Numbers!
COLORADO: Call Governor to Oppose bill to make it easier for illegal aliens to obtain driver's license
This is a follow-up alert to the alert you received from me on Friday. After I sent the alert to you on Friday, I was alerted by the Colorado Alliance for Immigration Reform that the Colorado House had passed H.B. 1313 as well. The following alert comes from the Colorado Alliance for Immigration Reform and asks you to call Governor Ritter to oppose the bill.
BACKGROUND
The Colorado House and Senate have now passed a bill to make it easier for illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses and public services. House Bill 1313, introduced by Sen. Paula Sandoval, D-Denver, and Rep. Rosemary Marshall, D-Denver, weakens the requirements that applicants for driver's licenses and public services prove lawful residence by allowing the use of marriage licenses and AFFIDAVITS FROM NON-PROFITS as proof.
This would make it tremendously easier for illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses and public services.
COLORADO ALLIANCE FOR IMMIGRATION REFORM ALERT
1. Legislative Passage of HB07-1313
We have been actively keeping an eye on the Colorado legislature this
session. Now there is a bad bill up for the Governor to sign. This
is the time for you to act!
Over the course of the last several months the Colorado House and Senate have debated a revision of the requirements for obtaining a Drivers License. A coalition of homeless advocates have pressured, first through the courts, starting in Dec. 2006, and now at the Legislature, a lowering of the threshold of documents needed to obtain a DL. After a series of amendments, both houses have now passed a bill that sets the standards back 15 years and puts us in a position worse that before HB06S-1023, the keystone of last Summer's Special Session.
This bill has increased the likelihood of fraudulent documents being
used, including almost any scrap of paper available. In addition, it authorizes the Dept. of Revenue to arbitrarily determine the documents
it wants to use.
This is basically BAD LAW in addition to undoing the tight standards
previously established. It therefore becomes necessary for us to let
Governor Ritter know that he must reject this bill. Please call, Email or fax his office and demand that this bill be stopped. This is THE immigration-related bill for the session and it will undo the very
effective work accomplished by HB 1023 last summer (for more information, see http://www.defendcoloradonow.org/legisl ... _2006.html
).
Further information will follow as this develops.

Also, just a suggestion: ask the Governor to phone the Governor of a state that DOES grant licenses to illegals.
Then, ask him if the increase in identity theft(s) and document fraud, and being a magnet for related nefarious acts is really worth it.
He might be surprised to learn that several of the states that have undertaken such a policy are now trying to back away from it. Tennessee, I believe, has already done so.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
