A community or union that might look or model the NAU?

    The Caribbean Community

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has become unofficially multilingual in practice with the addition of Dutch-speaking Suriname on July 4, 1995 and Haiti, where French and Haitian Creole are spoken, on July 2, 2002.

In 2001, the heads of government signed a Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas thus clearing the way for the transformation of the Common Market aspect of CARICOM. Part of the revised treaty includes the establishment and implementation of the Caribbean Court of Justice.

Currently CARICOM has 15 full members:

Antigua and Barbuda (4 July 1974)
    The Bahamas (4 July 1983)
    Barbados (1 August 1973)
    Belize (1 May 1974)
    Dominica (1 May 1974)
    Grenada (1 May 1974)
    Guyana (1 August 1973)
Haiti (provisional membership on 4 July 1998, full membership on 2 July 2002)
    Jamaica (1 August 1973)
Montserrat (a territory of the United Kingdom) (1 May 1974)
Saint Kitts and Nevis (26 July 1974 as Saint Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla)
    Saint Lucia (1 May 1974)
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (1 May 1974)
    Suriname (4 July 1995)
Trinidad and Tobago (1 August 1973)

The Caricom has a full government from Executive,Legislative.Judiciary...

It has a single market or planning to have one. With Economy.

    [edit] Future proposals
    Airline amalgamation
    Civil Society Charter
    Currency Union
    Freedom of Movement
    Political Union(s)
    Regionalised Stock Exchange

One day there might be a caribbean union, really I think theres a very good chance.

Now look at South America they went to become a one nation pan-con super state just like the EU. Asia has even put up plans to make them self one. Africa has already a weak African union. Any one that had a common sense could see whats going on. The question is is it a good idea? Which lays in the freedom and power it gives its people.

This is what south America is doing...

    Current works in progress
The South American Community of Nations started plans of integration with the construction of the Interoceanic Highway, a road that intends to unite Peru with Brazil by extending a highway through Bolivia, giving that country a path to the sea, while Brazil would obtain access to the Pacific Ocean and Peru to the Atlantic Ocean. Construction started in September 2005, financed 60% by Brazil and 40% by Peru. It is estimated to be done by 2009.

On November 24 2006, the foreign ministers of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela reached an agreement to waive Visa requirements for tourism travel between nationals of said countries. [1]

At the Third South American Summit, on 8 December 2004, presidents or representatives from twelve South American nations signed the Cuzco Declaration, a two-page statement of intent, announcing the foundation of the South American Community. Panama attended the signing ceremony as an observer.

The leaders announced their intention to model the new community after the European Union, including a common currency, parliament, and passport. According to Allan Wagner, Secretary General of the Andean Community, a complete union like that of the EU should be possible by 2019.

The mechanics of the new entity should come out at the First South American Community of Nations Heads of State Summit, to be held in Brasilia, in September 29-30 2005. A constitution is also expected to be drafted in 2005. The Second Summit will be held in Bolivia. No new institutions will be created in the first phase, so as not to increase bureaucracy, and the community will use the existing institutions belonging to the previous trade blocs.

It appears that the whole world is doing this,,,Something tells me there is much bigger bosses then Bush. Bush most likely can't do anything to stop it or see's it as his only choice with the rest of the world doing this.

I don't know what to say,,,Bush should be making a case to us and telling us why we need to do this. We need to vote.

LOL!!! We already have the only economic union that we need. It consists of 50 members that are geographically and even culturally diverse with 48 contiguous members, another located elsewhere on the continent, and yet another in the middle of the Pacific. It's the earliest of the modern economic unions, having been formalized originally in 1789 and completed in 1959. I rather like that union and think anything beyond that is unnecessary.
