FROM THE DESK OF JAMES N. CLYMER
    CHAIRMAN, CONSTITUTION PARTY NATIONAL COMMITTEE

According to a recent AP article, President Bush's approval ratings continue to swoon to all-time lows, prompting many Republicans to fear an "Election Day massacre" this fall that could end the GOP's control of both houses of Congress. That’s right; the scales are finally falling from the eyes of the Bush-can-do-no-wrong crowd. The folks for whom criticism of the Patriot Act, the Iraq War, or the President’s inability to pronounce the word "nuclear" bordered on sacrilege are, according to the pollsters, angry, confused, and may well sit out this fall's elections altogether. It's too bad it has taken a bloody quagmire in Iraq with a spiraling American body count, astronomical fuel prices, and catastrophic immigration policies that threaten to bury our country, but better late than never.

Among other things, the most recent polling data suggests that:

"Just 33 percent of the public approves of Bush's job performance, the lowest of his presidency. That compares with 36 percent approval in early April. Forty-five percent of self-described conservatives now disapprove of the president."
"Just one-fourth of the public approves of the job Congress is doing, a new low in AP-Ipsos polling and down 5 percentage points since last month. A whopping 65 percent of conservatives disapprove of Congress."
"A majority of Americans say they want Democrats rather than Republicans to control Congress (51 percent to 34 percent). That's the largest gap recorded by AP-Ipsos since Bush took office. Even 31 percent of conservatives want Republicans out of power."
"The souring of the nation's mood has accelerated the past three months, with the percentage of people describing the nation on the wrong track rising 12 points to a new high of 73 percent. Six of 10 conservatives say America is headed in the wrong direction."
These are absolutely stunning numbers. So bad has it become that GOP pollster Whit Ayres admitted that "It’s going to take some events of significance to turn this around. I don't think at this point you can talk your way back from these sorts of ratings." The article cited concerns about runaway government spending and homosexual marriage, in addition to gas prices, Iraq, and immigration, as reasons for conservative unrest.

Now for the downside: many of these former Bush partisans, who refused to heed the warnings years ago, are still in denial about one crucial point. Many of them believe that the only alternative to milquetoast neocon Republicans are liberal Democrats, who, they rightly perceive, are attacking Bush's policies for all of the wrong reasons.

These disgruntled conservatives need to know that there is an alternative to voting for a liberal or staying home in November. The Constitution Party has opposed all of the abovementioned misbegotten policies from their inception, and is unapologetic now for having done so. If elected to office, CP candidates will not stand by wringing their hands while illegal immigrants continue to pour across our southern border, American servicemen continue to die in Iraq, gas prices continue to spiral into the stratosphere, and moral decay continues apace with the help of laws that encourage abortion and sodomy.

As a party, we must focus in particular on the illegal immigration crisis (calling it an "issue" somehow falls short). Our elected elites believe, almost to a man, that America needs to somehow accommodate a problem for which no solution is deemed feasible. Fence the border? Can't be done. Go after employers who hire illegals. Nuh-uh, too intrusive. Impose sanctions on Mexico? Who’re you trying to kid, they’re our friends! Mass deportations? Are you some kinda nutcase? And so forth it goes, an endless string of lukewarm platitudes served up as excuses for refusing to defend our own borders against illegal workers, drug traffickers, and other undesirables, perhaps even terrorists.

As a party, we need to offer a solution to this problem, a program that will silence the critics of the "I-don’t-see-you-offering-any-better-idea" variety. Certainly enhanced border security, including properly constructed and controlled fences, is in order. So is diplomatic action against the Mexican government in the form of sanctions (of course, that would require defiance of the illicit NAFTA regime, a felicitous side effect!). Severe penalties on employers who hire illegals, banks that allow them to do business, and other institutions that facilitate the flow of illegal wages to illegal workers, would be no more difficult to implement than new rules, like "know your customer" requirements for banks, intended to discourage terrorist cells and other illicit activity. As for deportation, the alternative is another several decades of unimpeded illegal entry, which will nail shut the coffin lid on our once-proud, independent republic. Right now, aside from interdiction near the border, deportation is generally only carried out for high-profile cases with a political payoff, or in response to an extradition request. It is, however, a perfectly legal and very humane alternative to imprisoning illegal immigrants, who are, after all, breaking the law in a flagrant manner.

The bottom line, and one worth emphasizing, is that we are literally undergoing a hostile invasion, one whose ultimate agenda its perpetrators do not scruple to conceal, as the recent May 1 demonstrations, boycotts, and work stoppages demonstrated. But the nice thing about this invasion is that we need not resort to armed conflict to stop it. Instead, non-violent, legal measures like those outlines above will put a stop to it in short order, without a shot being fired.

Here's hoping that we will seize the fantastic opportunities of this electoral season and, by our successes this fall, send a loud and unmistakable message to the American body politic: the Constitution Party is here to stay!

Interesting that someone would post this just one day after I got done with an hour-long phone call with one of the chairmen for the Constitution Party, with whom I am planning on running for office in the future.

Though not every party is ever going to satisfy everyone all of the time, the Constitution party is one with lots of heart and spirit. This nation wouldn't go wrong in making the Constitution party our first VIABLE party to thwart the "one party with two names - Republican and Democrat".

Stand with me and others as we work in bringing the Constitution Party to the forefront! At this point in time, I've signed with them to work in my part of Nebraska toward getting the Constitution Party on the ballots for starters. Contact your Secretary of State and ask what your State's rules are for gathering signatures to get a party on your State ballots. Most states require a specified percentage of REGISTERED voters to offer their signatures in order to put a party on the ballot.

I am working on coordinating this not only on the state level here in Nebraska, but will also be assisting in the coordination in other states as well. For now, obtain information from YOUR Secretary of State and pass the information on to me so others in your state can gather signatures along with you. Information for all states will eventually be compiled on a website which is being planned.

    Third Party Conservatives in America

They all have one thing in common, they seek to get back to the roots of the Constitution, they are all Conservative, and they all believe in the return of States Rights, Limited Government, and Strong Family Values.

But as long as they bicker and fight over piddley assed little differences, they have a snow balls chance in HELL, as separate groups, of beating out the Dimwits, and the Repugs.

The fools in office now have had their chances to do the right thing for this country, and they have failed miserably. Except for a few good conservatives in Washington, why would anybody in their right minds, even consider voting again for the lesser of two evils? Have we not learned our lesson from the last time? How many shots do we give these traitors to get it right, before it finally sinks into our Two Party Only Brains, that 98% of them must go, or we lose our country for good?

The following groups, just simply don’t see the bigger picture, and that’s a sad mistake that could cost us our nations FREEDOM, because their our best hope for a political solution.

I say call for a National Independent Conservative Convention, and put the “Penny Anne” differences aside, and unite as one, and when the new party wins, and replaces the criminals now in power, then let each State work out those differences on their own, as it should be, like our founding fathers intended it to be.

I agree Ruckus. Why are there so many different "3rd Party" parties? Can't we conservatives just have one party? If we don't come together as Americans first, putting all other concerns aside for the time being, we won't have an America left to preserve. All the nitpicking, all the bickering, it just doesn't bode well for the future. And we certainly can't let the current Democrats stay in office. They have shown time and time again which side of this issue they favor.

Well bit-o-ruckus, unfortunately you are correct in most of what you say. When it comes time to find a different way of doing things than the old standard two-party system, we have far too many who want to do their own thing. As a result, the people are fragmented between a handful of parties. With a divided effort as such, no single one of those parties are ever going to make a difference.

I've been seeing a LOT of endorsements and people taking a stand for the Constitution Party of late. The minutemen seem to love the Constitution Party. And according to chairman Scott Bartlett of the Constitution Party, some Republicans have literally left their own party to join the Constitution Party since even some of them have begun feeling disinfranchised by their own.

This nation was founded up on a constitution. The Constitution Party believes upon all that it's own name suggests.

As I've metioned so many times already, not every party is going to satisfy everyone all of the time. There will always be a few things some will like which others won't. But if people would stop and think for a moment about what is best for our country, they would choose one and rally around it with NUMBERS.

So why should people choose the Constitution Party as that "one party to rally around"? I say it is because the party sends a strong message to everyone who has been anti-Constitutional - including presidents who yell at aides saying that our Constitution is just a ********* piece of paper! By rallying around the Constitution party and all it represents, a strong message would be sent to those who have sought all these years to slowly whittle away at our Constitutional rights as a people!

Frankly, I see very little wrong with all of the parties you've listed above. They all have some very fine points and a few negatives. The Constitution party has many fine points, but in my opinion there are a few negatives according to my own personal feelings and opinions as well. But in spite of the few negatives, it is an all 'round excellent party upon which to build a major third-party platform to ROAST the other two-party system over a political grill.

How does this party feel about lobbying? How does the party feel about Iraq, Iran and China? Do they feel we should tell China that we will boycott their imports until they prove to the world that they no longer have sweat shops?

There's a lot of questions that could be answered. I'm intrested and have said on many occassion in this forum that we need a third party. The Independence Party needs to make their platform known in some degree of detail.

Rockfish, has some really good concerns relating to a third party. That is the problems with third party they are always limiting or they are one issue party. They need to do a few things, they domestic policy, foreign policy, interior issues for states and the people. There is no indication that they have a larger platform, they need to take stands on big issues that concern Americans and until they do that no third party will win on a single issue. Also their needs to be something that brings many of these other parties into larger party to have a larger voting block in order to make a difference. Iam interested in the CP or any other to break the dominance of the other two.

Not only that, but what has just happened should be a valuable lesson to each and every one of us. We, the people of the United States of America, need to research, FULLY, the person we vote on. Make sure they are REAL AMERICANS, not some foody, doody who caters to big bucks only. Make sure they don't have any ties with the people from the Bilderberg groups, Rockefeller foundations, Microsoft, Hillburton so on....the corporate corupt that are selling out our country. Let's make sure they aren't corupt themselves and where their loyalties TRULY lies.
That is the ONLY way I will ever vote again. RESEARCH FIRST. HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF WHO WE ARE VOTING FOR. WE NEED OUR GOVERNMENT AND BIG BUSINESS SEPERATED AND IT'S UP TO US TO DO IT.
    SO PLEASE, RESEARCH FIRST.
