Democrat email machine slips up big time — and lets their fundraising tactics show

February 28, 2015 by Carmine Sabia

The Democrats have a simple strategy to get donations to its Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Scare its supporters into giving them funds — by any means necessary.

Wednesday, BizPac Review readers learned about the email the DCCC sent out to supporters boasting about forcing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to cave while simultaneously asking for donations to get House Speaker John Boehner to do the same, though no one actually explained how money would help that effort.

On Saturday preparing for a closure of the Department of Homeland Security, the Dems mistakenly sent an email they must have had prepared in advance:
Here’s the bad news: Republicans forced a shutdown of Homeland Security. It started at MIDNIGHT last night. Now more than ever, we need to raise $200,000 to launch an effective Rapid Response campaign against obstructionist Republicans.

Here’s the good news: As of 8am, we’re within reach of unlocking the TRIPLE-MATCH!

If 1 more supporter donates from the [zip code redacted], we can officially unlock the TRIPLE-MATCH.

Together, we can make the Republicans regret their destructive choice to shut down President Obama’s agenda. Don’t miss this chance!

Remember if we hit our goal: Your donation of $5 right now will be matched up to $15! Your donation of $50 right now will be matched up to $150!!!

The problem for the DCCC is the Department of Homeland Security did NOT get shut down Friday. So I guess the Dems don’t need money right?
Wrong. Apparently with or without the shutdown, they need gullible supporters to kick in their cash.
They sent this email to supporters later Saturday.
We screwed up.
According to our records, we sent you an email this morning that you weren’t supposed to receive.Homeland Security did NOT shut down last night.
We’re sorry for the mistake (we hate when this happens).
So here’s the (actual) bad news: This fight isn’t over. Late last night, Congress passed a bill that postponed the shutdown — but for only one week.
In other words, Republicans are STILL trying to use our first responders as a bargaining chip against President Obama.
These next hours are critical. [Name redacted] — can you chip in to our Republican Accountability Fund before tonight’s federal fundraising deadline?
MIDNIGHT DEADLINE: ALL GIFTS TO THIS EMAIL TRIPLE-MATCHED.

Wow!

So let’s understand. DHS shuts down — DCCC desperately needs your money. DHS does not shut down DCCC desperately needs your money.

Anyone think they aren’t going to milk this latest scare for all its worth?
