Democrats Call for $1.9 BILLION in Welfare for Illegals
Illegal immigration is a serious problem in the U.S., and it’s also a major hot-button political issue that has stirred up waves of controversy for years.
Much of the problem with this issue focuses on the availability of welfare benefits for immigrants who’ve entered the country illegally and seem intent on staying here. These individuals typically don’t pay taxes, meaning they make no contribution to the system, draining economic resources.
Conservatives have been calling for strict enforcement of immigration laws in order to cut down on the number of illegals entering the country and help reduce the strain on the economy. Many have also called for increased deportation for illegals as a means to reduce the size of the welfare rolls.
Instead of finding ways to reduce illegal immigration, Democrats are now calling for an additional $1.9 billion to go toward welfare for illegals living in America. Yes, you read that correctly. It says billions, not millions.
via Breitbart:Amazingly, 70 Republican House members joined with almost every Democrat to defeat Gohmert’s amendment. Among those who voted to keep the subsidies for illegals were Eric Cantor and Renee Ellmers, two Republicans who were challenged on their support for amnesty. Ironically, Cantor was defeated in a stunning upset on that very day by Dave Brat who criticized Cantor for promoting policies that have attracted more illegal immigration. This is outrageous. The government can’t afford to provide adequate health care for veterans who’ve put their life on the line in service to their country, yet want to give lawbreakers living in America illegally more free stuff?
Worse, on the same day the House rejected the effort to cut off housing assistance, the Senate Appropriations subcommittee on Labor-HHS passed a bill appropriating $1.9 billion in aid to care for the new wave of illegal immigration from Central America pouring into the Rio Grande Valley. According to The Hill, this provision was crafted by Senate Appropriations Committee chairwoman Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) along with the Republican committee and subcommittee ranking members Richard Shelby (R-AL) and Jerry Moran (R-KS). No Republican objected or voiced concern for this open-ended commitment to subsidizing the illegal migration.
It’s appalling, and an obvious ploy by liberal Democrats to increase their voter base in order to win elections and keep their agenda alive. The left is using illegal immigrants like pawns in a game of chess. It’s vile and disgusting, which is why Americans need to continue putting pressure on their representatives to secure the border. Those that decide to join forces with the Democrats should suffer the same fate as Cantor.
Please share this article on Facebook and Twitter if you support securing the border, cutting down on benefits for illegals, and giving those resources to vets.
