    Thank you lsmith. I'm happy about the long overdue deportations, but I would also like to see the carrot that criminal employers are dangling for the illegals to come here, be taken away as well by having tougher penalties for hiring them in the first place. But I do have to admit, this is a very good start. It's long overdue.

    It would also allow for the immediate return of Mexican immigrants apprehended at the border pending their deportation hearings outcome, instead of housing them on U.S. property, and allows for potential prosecution of parents of unaccompanied minors from Mexico and Central America if they paid to have their children smuggled over the border.
    So they release those trespassing our borders back to Mexico? I don't get it, unless ... if we "house" them -- jail them, I guess, then they are already in the country. They have a toe hold and we have to feed them and house and take care of them and the momentum is to just turn them loose in the US. So we throw them back and initiate deportation proceedings and if we catch them again, then this just taints their deportation hearing further. We can throw them back again and maybe this time the deportation is expedited and they are then officially deported and removed from the country at the same time. Or the deportation proceeds on their first attempt, in either case we don't have to physically eject them, they are already out. Very smart. If we catch them again after being officially deported, then we can jail them in earnest for a punishing period of time.

    But why should we have to wait to punish parents until they have their children smuggled over the border? It seems like any unaccompanied minor should impose legal liabilities on their parents. Don't parents assume various liabilities for the crimes committed by their juveniles? Things like tagging or other vandalism and the like?

    And also, why does somebody crossing illegally into the US have to be deported? Isn't catching a non-citizen crossing illegally sufficient cause to remove them from the country? If not, why not? I suppose it is possible that somebody crossing illegally into the country could be a US citizen. Even US citizens have to observe US borders and restrict themselves to official points of entry.

    Welcome 6 million Dollar Man!

    Some interesting excerpts from the Memo PDF.

    C.
    Identifying and Quantifying Sources of Aid to MexicoThe President has directed the heads of all executive departments to identify and quantifyall sources of direct and indirect Federal aid or assistance to the Government of Mexico.Accordingly, the Under Secretary for Management shall identify all sources of direct or indirectaid and assistance, excluding intelligence activities, from every departmental component to theGovernment of Mexico on an annual basis, for the last five fiscal years, and quantify such aid orassistance. The Under Secretary for Management shall submit a report to me reflecting historiclevels of such aid or assistance provided annually within 30 days of the date of this memorandum.

    Implementing the Provisions of Section 235(b)(2)(C) of the INA to Return Aliens toContiguous Countries

    Section 235(b)(2)(C) of the INA authorizes the Department to return aliens arriving onland from a foreign territory contiguous to the United States, to the territory from which theyarrived, pending a formal removal proceeding under section 240 of the INA. When aliens soapprehended do not pose a risk of a subsequent illegal entry or attempted illegal entry, returningthem to the foreign contiguous territory from which they arrived, pending the outcome of removalproceedings saves the Department's detention and adjudication resources for other priority aliens
    Accordingly, subject to the requirements of section 1232, Title 8, United States Code,related to unaccompanied alien children and to the extent otherwise consistent with the law andU.S. international treaty obligations, CBP and ICE personnel shall, to the extent appropriate andreasonably practicable, return aliens described in section 235(b)(2)(A) of the INA, who are placedin removal proceedings under section 240 of the INA- and who, consistent with the guidance ofan ICE Field Office Director, CBP Chief Patrol Agent, or CBP Director of Field Operations, poseno risk of recidivism- to the territory of the foreign contiguous country from which they arrivedpending such removal proceedings.
    M.
    Accountability Measures to Protect Alien Children from Exploitation and PreventAbuses of Our Immigration LawsAlthough the Department's personnel must process unaccompanied alien childrenpursuant to the requirements described above, we have an obligation to ensure that those whoconspire to violate our immigration laws do not do so with impunity- particularly in light of theunique vulnerabilities of alien children who are smuggled or trafficked into the United States.

    The parents and family members of these children, who are often illegally present in theUnited States, often pay smugglers several thousand dollars to bring their children into thiscountry. Tragically, many of these children fall victim to robbery, extortion, kidnapping, sexualassault, and other crimes of violence by the smugglers and other criminal elements along thedangerous journey through Mexico to the United States. Regardless of the desires for familyreunification, or conditions in other countries, the smuggling or trafficking of alien children isintolerable.
    Accordingly, the Director ofICE and the Commissioner of CBP shall ensure the proper
    enforcement of our immigration laws against those who--<lirectly or indirectly- facilitate the
    smuggling or trafficking of alien children into the United States. Proper enforcement includes, but
    is not limited to, placing such individuals who are removable aliens into removal proceedings, or
    referring such individuals for criminal prosecution, as appropriate.
    From Section H

    In addition, the task forces should include participants from other federal, state, and localagencies, and should target individuals and organizations whose criminal conduct underminesborder security or the integrity of the immigration system, including offenses related to aliensmuggling or trafficking, drug trafficking, illegal entry and reentry, visa fraud, identity theft,unlawful possession or use of official documents, and acts of violence committed against personsor property at or near the border.

    Mexico should never of issued 10 days travel permits to illegal aliens that crossed there southern border to get to the United States.

    Mexico assisted there illegal entre into our country and now they are going to pay for it.

    Maybe now they will stop the flow of migrants knowing they will have to pay to care for all US deportees regardless of there home country.

    DHS Authorizes Hiring 10K Immigration Officers

    Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary John F. Kelly authorized the hiring of an additional 10,000 Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and enforcement officers. The move by DHS delivers on a promise made by President Donald Trump to increase enforcement–particularly in removing criminal aliens inside the borders of the U.S.

    Secretary Kelly ordered the director of ICE to immediately begin the process of hiring 10,000 to effectively enforce the immigration laws in the interior regions of the U.S., according to a DHS memo obtained by Breitbart Texas. In addition, Kelly authorized the agency to hire additional operational and mission support staff, along with legal staff.

    Kelly said the memo implements the Executive Order, “Enhancing Public Safety in the Interior of the United States,” issued by President Trump on January 25.

    ICE agents and enforcement officers were used earlier this month to conduct a targeted roundup of criminal aliens in metropolitan areas across the country. Agents and officers arrested more than 600 criminal aliens in 11 states, Breitbart Texas reported. The operation spawned a rash of “fake news” reports, tweets, and other social media comments that sparked unnecessary fear among immigrants not in the sights of the targeted operation.

    “I believe ICE is out in public arresting people in order to retaliate against our community for standing up for our values against people like Abbott and Trump,” Austin City Councilman Casar posted on Facebook. “Trump and his allies will do everything they can to divide Americans, invoke fear in vulnerable neighborhoods, and demonize an entire community of people.”

    “Of those [680 aliens] arrested, approximately 75 percent were criminal aliens, convicted of crimes including, but not limited to, homicide, aggravated sexual abuse, sexual assault of a minor, lewd and lascivious acts with a child, indecent liberties with a minor, drug trafficking, battery, assault, DUI and weapons charges,” Secretary Kelly wrote in a statement obtained by Breitbart Texas.

    ICE enforcement officers routinely execute targeted enforcement operations to remove violent criminal aliens from the country. The additional 10,000 agents and officers will allow the DHS to more efficiently carry out its mission of enforcing immigration laws in the interior of the country.

    Some of the operations conducted in the past include (according to DHS statistics):

    *February 2017 – Fugitive enforcement operations began Monday, Feb. 6 in the Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago, New York and San Antonio areas of responsibility, which resulted in more than 680 arrests of convicted criminal aliens and other immigration enforcement priorities;
    *March 2015 – National Cross Check operation that led to 2,059 arrests nationwide;
    *August 2013 – National fugitive enforcement operation resulting in 1,660 arrests including 1,517 convicted criminals;
    *April 2012 – National Cross Check operation that resulted in more than 3,100 arrests;
    *September 2011 – National Cross Check operation leading to the arrest of more than 2,900 convicted criminal aliens;
    *June 2011 – National Cross Check operation that resulted in more than 2,400 arrests across all 50 states.

    The memorandum from Secretary Kelly is effective immediately.

    This is fantastic new, Jean. This means we have triple the number of ICE agents since we only have 5,000 now. A group of 15,000 still sounds small for the daunting task, but since the memo includes working with state and local law enforcement to make arrests, wow, this will work really well to get the job done and get it done fast and correctly.

    I think Congress still should pass the bill that's been in Congress for several years now acknowledging the rights of state to enforce immigration law and authorizing such activities for any and all state and local law enforcement officers who want to enforce our US immigration laws with regards to illegal aliens.
