About 12 years ago (I lived in Santa Clarita, Ca at the time) I took the test for a job for the County of Los Angeles...and I scored 96%....darn good!!!!!! and they had openings....but "don't bother to apply for the jobs unless you are bilingual "Spanish"

Here in Las Vegas....our high school grads (citizens) can't get entry level jobs in the casinos unless they are bilingual..... I pray constantly that ICE would pick on just one of the casinos...any one....but I pray for a raid

We have a lot of job openings here that require the applicant to speak ONLY Spanish so they can help the people that refuse to speak English.

And there is one business here that will only hire Hispanics. They refuse to hire anyone that is another race. That is discrimination.
No Amnesty! An average of 25 Americans are killed every day by illegal alien criminals that have no right to be here.

I live in the L. A. area. If I go to the bank the employees speak Chinese and some broken English. If I go to the supermarket the employees speak Spanish and some broken English. If I go to the gas station the employees speak some Korean and some broken English. Are you starting to see a pattern here? I could go on and on. And I'm the customer. One time I went into the drug store and asked for batteries and the clerk didn't have the slightest idea of what I was talking about. Is it any wonder the economy doesn't work in California.

Here in NJ and NYC there have been some job postings that asks to be fluent in spanish but it's not like it's a fortune 500 company. But if you guys have been experiencing this problem in your state you must LET YOUR GOVERNOR and write Congress about it. Write them that americans are being discriminated in looking for employment because companies want fluent in spanish and WE ARE IN AMERICA! This angers me so much. My fellow citizens cannot get jobs because they have to be fluent in Spanish in their OWN COUNTRY is appalling and maddening.

redpony353, grandmasmad, cube and the rest of you all, yes in San Francisco many businesses refuse to hire anyone who does not speak spanish. Quiet a few insist on only spanish. Some only chinese speakers need apply. I tried walking applications at at least a dozen places who told me NO as soon as I walked through the door -- I didn't even ask...I was wearing good clothing and I suppose... Sad, huh?

The city and county and Socialist Republic of San Francisco requires bi-lingual on most jobs. No matter how HIGH you score on tests, you may well be "overlooked" if you are not bi-lingual.

You know a long time back, voters in California put in effect an English only constitutional amendment to the California Constitution. OH MY THE CRIES OF RACISM then...... I am still half deaf because of it. Strange isn't it?

The amendment was passed but overturned by courts. Now are voter ballots are in 10 languages....or is it 6?

Let's go back to a simple and good time when America was for Americans. All will be welcome if a citizen. Not a citizen? You may visit for up to 30 days bye posting a travel bond of say $20k. Deport illegals. No more guest workers. No more anchor baby citizenship touchdowns. No more family flies free and gets citizenship too crap. Secure borders and seriously enforce the laws.
Suppose you were an idiot and suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself.

They hire them that is why they want them here. They either hire them in their home or their business or both.

I guess it's hit the insurance business as well. I suppose that not all who buy insurance are illegal immigrants but I bet a percentage is.
Another example of Spanish speaking required in order to get a job:
    http://saltlakecity.craigslist.org/csr/1763965219.html

I have a small insurance office in Murray and am looking for a Spanish speaking sales assistant. Job duties will include selling of insurance products, and servicing clients. If you are interested please send your resume. Part-time 20 to 25 hours a week.
    Compensation: $8.50
Another justification for illegal immigration is all the revenue generated from that segment of the market. I've seen insurance agents driving with ads in Spanish all over their cars.

Businesses are hring so-called bi-lingual employees but if the truth be known they aren't really bi-lingual. These employees only speak a few words of English. And if you try to talk to them about something the least bit complicated they don't get it and have to call their supervisor or someone else to translate. Bi-lingual means fluent in two languages. Not someone who speaks a few words of broken English. If the truth be known these businesses just want to discriminate against U. S. citizens because most of them only speak English. That why they don't have to pay living wages to their so-called bi-lingual employees or run the risk of being sued for discrimintion. In effect it's another type of illegal alien scam.
