Donald Trump Forces UAW to Confirm Ford Bronco Is Definitely Happening

    blog.caranddriver.com 5 hours ago

By way of Donald Trump, we have the most definitive confirmation yet of the next-gen Ford Bronco—seen above as imagined by the Bronco fans at Bronco6G.com—a vehicle that could make two-door SUVs great again.

Speaking to the Detroit Free Press last Friday about Trump’s assertion that Ford was moving jobs to Mexico, the local UAW plant chairman came out and confirmed previous reports: “We hate to see the products go to Mexico, but with the Ranger and the Bronco coming to Michigan Assembly that absolutely secures the future for our people a lot more than the Focus does,” Bill Johnson, UAW Local 900 chairman, told the Freep.

Ford announced in August 2015 that it would move all Focus and C-Max production from the Wayne, Michigan, plant to a new facility in Mexico by 2018. While the company won’t relocate those cars to other U.S. plants, Ford never said it would close the Michigan plant or shed any of its 4500 workers, at which point rumblings of a new Ranger pickup and Bronco began circling the web almost immediately. By November, we heard reports that both trucks were unofficially green-lit. Even with the UAW’s latest admission, Dearborn is still tight-lipped on the subject. We’re expecting the Bronco by 2020, if not earlier.

As for Trump, Ford has been very vocal about countering the presidential candidate’s claims of the company dumping jobs, with CEO Mark Fields saying that “not one job will be lost” when the plant shifts from cars to trucks. Trump earlier had said that Ford would “fire all its employees in the United States,” which obviously will not happen. But if it takes political wrangling to receive news of a product as hot as this one, well, let’s have more, please.

    GO TRUMP GO GO GO!!!

But hey, as happy as everyone will be to see the Ranger and Bronco back, that's still no reason not to build a new small car plant in the United States. Look around at all the states and communities dreaming of a new auto assembly plant in their town, city and region. We need them all, all the production plants, like it used to be when times were good and Americans were happy because they had good jobs, benefits and great cars their jobs could afford them to own.
