Donald Trump powwows with Ted Cruz in New York

    By S.A. Miller - The Washington Times - Updated: 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2016

President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team meeting included a sit-down Tuesday with Sen. Ted Cruz, according to the senator’s office.

Mr. Cruz, a solid conservative and former Texas solicitor general, as been mentioned as a possible pick of a Supreme Court justice or another Cabinet post, although the transition team has not confirmed a possible role for the senator.

Mr. Cruz met with Mr. Trump at Trump Tower in New York, where the president-elect lives and where the transition team offices are located.

“Sen. Cruz is pleased to have the opportunity to meet with President-elect Trump in New York today,” Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said in a statement.

Mr. Cruz was a competitor for the GOP presidential nomination and became the final rival that Mr. Trump had to vanquish before securing the nomination.

Mr. Cruz stubbornly refused to endorse Mr. Trump, including giving a speech at the Republican National Convention in which he told delegates to “vote your conscience.” To some, the speech begged a floor fight for the nomination and resulted in a widespread anger and resentment toward the Texas senator.

In the late stages of the campaign, however, Mr. Cruz stumped for the GOP nominee.
Ms. Frazier said that Mr. Cruz went into the meeting offering to assist Mr. Trump in any way he can to advance his agenda as president.

“The American people issued a clear mandate to ‘drain the swamp’ in Washington, repeal Obamacare and start over with cost-effective, patient-centered health care reform, appoint constitutionalist judges to the Supreme Court, secure our southern border and enforce immigration laws, and enact policies that will crate more good-paying jobs for the American people,” said Ms. Frazier.

“On behalf of the 27 million Texans he represents, the senator looks forward to assisting the Trump Administration in achieving these objectives,” she said.

No way. Nothing for Ted Cruz except to send him back to Canada.
