Will Dream Act come back in disguise?

Dream Act would have given more rights to illegals than to American students.
If the dream act had passed and if parents of illegal students are deported how would it be impossible for the student to remain here. They would not be financially able to remain here. They would have to leave with the parents or the parents would be allowed to stay or our government would provide financial assistance. The student, most likely a minor, would need the support that parents provide.
This reminds me of how the government treated the Native American when they took their children and put them in American school to make them more American. Now we want to take the children of illegal aliens and used them, presumable for our own benefit. Make the child legal but not the parent?
At the same time if the parent of the American student commits a crime and goes to jail, there is no consideration for the welfare of the student’s loss of financial assistance or support of parent. Parents would never be allowed to skip jail and remain with the student.
The illegal alien parent is a criminal just as the American parent is a criminal but they are not treated the same.
The Dream Act would have done the same thing as the automatic birthright citizenship does. Separate families. Is that what we want or is it the other way around, that they want an excuse to legalize all of them. That is why the 14th Amendment has to be rescinded or repealed now.
I got the feeling we have not seen the last of the Dream Act. It will come up some where in some other bill.

I seriously doubt they'll be able to hide it.

Oh yeah, it'll be back - it's just a question of when.

dyehard, the Dreamies are planning to bring it up again. If you lurk on their sites, you will see this. They are trying to reshape the Dream Act to make it more palatable to the senators that voted NO and to the general public as well.

I have no doubt they will try to sneak this up on us again even though I hope not!
It's just a disaster waiting to happen
If these "kids" are allowed to stay, WE will be the ones to support the minors ~or~ the parents will be given amnesty also in order to support them!

I agree 100% and support the pieces of legislation that are/is winding it's way through the congress, now that seeks to establish by law that the so-called birthright citizenship and "anchorbabies" that are a result of and interpretation of the post civil war 14th ammendment? was it to allow those children regardless of their birth location to be "citizens" of the United States.

Something done to correct a problem of the post civil war has by supreme Court interpretation given us what is now universally thought as a permanent fixture; the socalled "anchor baby" problem; if you're born in the US, then you're considered a US citizen; it's like the Cuban refugee who lands on a beach in Florida is allowed to stay in the US and those who are picked up on the homemade boat, 100 feet offshore is sent back.

There is a bill going through the House (Sorry I can't give the citation here and now, that seeks to cure the problem of the anchor baby and the born here and then you're a citizen, problem).

Everyone, you've got to hang in there and redouble your efforts to fight back against the likes of Gov. Spitzers of New York who leads the charge of giving driver's licenses to illegals; remember, it was just such a piece of legislation (among others) that rinally was the death of the Gov. Gray Davis of California, that finally brought Schwarznegger into power.

Remember there are a number of organizations that are working their hearts off to keep you informed as these immigration bills keep coming at you.

NumbersUSA is a good one, and their free prepared faxes, are a life saver for most people who have used them. I know they work, because I actually got a letter back from my Senator as well as my Representative in response to one of my faxes sent from the NumbersUSA campaign during the "comprehensive immigration reform" that president Bush tried to ram down the throats of us in May 2007.

    Don't give up, friends!

Here's the link to NumbersUSA and to sign up. They only ask for a donation if you can afford it and don't give your email address out to be spammed.

I think anchor babies are the worse part of illegal immigration. Pregnant illegal aliens should be deported back to their country to have their babies or correctly interpret the 14th amendment.

    Say What

The 14th Amendment does NOT separate families. Illegal alien parents being DEPORTED for breaking the law separate families.

Support H.R.1940, 70 cosponsors and counting ... will clearly establish who is, and certainly who is NOT, an American citizen.

I believe it does separate families simple by making part of the family unit legal and the other, the support system is still illegal and can be deported. That is why it has to be repealed. The dream act would have done the same.
Now they want to make the parent legal because of the children being legal. There is lots of things wrong with the 14th amendment.
Very seldom is the parents of anchor babies deported.
