US Senate- 11/5/07 Today's Schedule of Events

Several quick points to make here:

    1. No action is taking place at the moment (7:35am PT; senate is not in session)

    2. Scheduled to convene again at 2:00pm ET/11:00am PT.
One hour of 'morning business' is slated.

    3. After the hour of morning business expires, the Farm Bill is anticipated to be introduced (and likely, debated). It is HR2419.

    4. So far, there are a lot of discussions taking place about the introduction of AgJobs. Some say it should be done as part of the Farm Bill (eg. an amendment to it), and others say it should be introduced as it's own stand-alone bill (as the Senate Ag subcommittee chairman Harkin has said he prefers). Being that Dem leadership in the Senate (eg. Reid and Durbin) had previously introduced the DREAM Act late in the evening, under a crunch time schedule, etc. (in short, in a sleazy/sneaky way...), well, if Reid gets his way, look for AgJobs to be sneaked in as an amendment to the Farm Bill (yes, probably late at night, when no one is around, and little public attention is focused on the Senate - in general).

So, bottom line is: be aware, be ready. It may not be purely coincidental that Elections Day in just about every state in the country may coincide with any significant action that might take place on AgJobs (hey, it would perfect cover when most people don't have their 'eyes on the ball').

Just IMHO in the above. But, please do be aware of how things are going.

Yes, exactly and most likely their "plan".
