Legalizing Illegals and the Selective Service System
Our Congress is trying to pass a bill that will "legalize" millions of illegal aliens. One of the conditions for "legalization" is that an illegal must have lived in the country for at least a year (prior to June 1, 2006) and not violated any Local, State or Federal laws.
Registering with the Selective Service System is a Federal Law that is directly tied to legal status and citizenship application. It is safe to say the majority of illegal alien males who resided in the country while in that age range, did not register and therefore will not qualify for the proposed "legalization process."
Congress must be reminded that failing to register with the Selective Service is a Felony ... disqualifies an illegal alien from this process, and a deportable offense.
Unless this Congress is prepared to completely gut and rewrite the purpose of the Selective Service System Agency, it is held by Federal law to deny legalization to any and all applicable illegal aliens who failed to register.
============
The Selective Service System requires all men, regardless of legal status, to register if they are between the ages of 18 and 25.
Failure to register is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 as a maximum.
The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) makes registration with Selective Service a condition for U.S. citizenship, if the man first arrived in the U.S. before his 26th birthday and was required to register.

That's right! To give these people amnesty our Congress would have to exonerate them from several crimes. I'm not willing to do that.

By the time they weed out the drunk drivers, murderers, gang bangers, drug addicts, drug smugglers, rapists, thieves and non English speaking illegals, the majority of them will only be fit to serve jail sentences.

The verification process is very simple; SSS must keep a database of all registered males. There will be so few who will be eligible for the program that it will be much faster to check the list against those who have an SSS card, to determine if it is authentic or forged.
After the non-registered are separated from the registered, the number of "legalization-eligible" males will be miniscule.
We must hope however that those males who are "shown the door" will take their wives and kids with them.

Please read this bill. As written, will place hundreds of thousands of illegal alien males who lived and worked in the US prior to the age of 26 and failed to register with Selective Service on the fast track to deportation. *The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service [INS] makes registration with Selective Service a condition for U.S. citizenship, if the man first arrived in the U.S. before his 26th birthday and was required to register.*
Congress does not have the authority to arbitrarily exclude Federal laws to make this bill work for select targeted group of people. That would border dangerously on selective enforcement along racial lines.
We must remind our Congressional representatives.

At least it would get rid of many illegals. there is still no way to get rid of the women who come just to have babies.

Hi there. Hey, are speaking of Flake-Gutierrez (HR1645)?
Have you read the entire bill already?
I really like your observation about selective service registration (which I have had to do of course) and ineligibility for inclusion under the 'Flakey" bill.
I'll bet most US Reps, don't know about that and won't even catch that as they/their staffers read the entire bill themselves.

This is why we have to "remind" them. I emailed my comments to my Senators and representative - all three WERE gung ho for the bill. Now, they may have to work on a re-write or some of them may wonder how they "suddenly" lost their little illegal workers. ha ha ha
