Federal officials raided the offices of the Community Action Agency of New Haven on Thursday in the wake of allegations it has provided federally funded heating assistance to illegal immigrants, the state Department of Social Services announced Friday.

On Thursday, officials from the federal Department of Health and Human Services and Department of Housing and Urban Development removed files, applications, documents and three agency computers used in determining eligibility for energy assistance benefits. Also removed were personnel files and payroll information of agency employees, according to DSS.

Earlier this year, a whistle-blower came forward charging the Community Action Agency with providing heating assistance to illegal immigrants in New Haven. A DSS audit later confirmed that the agency bypassed a computer field requiring a Social Security number, a common proof of citizenship, by using place-holder numbers or other measures.

Gov. M. Jodi Rell's office on Friday reassured residents served by the agency that winter heating assistance, Meals On Wheels and other services will continue without interruption.

The Community Action Agency serves residents in New Haven, North Haven, West Haven, East Haven and Hamden.

I wonder how many of the 500 affiliates of LA RAZA are providing illegal benefits to ilelgal aliens by purposely not screening them out?

Since New Haven thumbed their noses at ICE and started to
issue ID cards to illegals , of course ICE should be kicking them
to the curb every chance they get.

I think they should arrest the mayor for aiding illegals
