A Hamilton Township woman stole a Connecticut woman's identity to falsely receive more than $15,000 from the Atlantic County welfare office over the past four years, police said Tuesday.

Hammonton police arrested Luvia Espinoza, 42, of the Mays Landing section of the township, for allegedly buying a birth certificate and Social Security card through an unnamed source and then filing false applications for financial assistance.

Apparently the woman whose identity Espinoza allegedly stole sought to apply for financial assistance herself in Connecticut and was told she could not because she already was receiving assistance in New Jersey.

The Atlantic County Department of Family and Community Development was notified and began to investigate the case, eventually passing it on to Hammonton police, which is where Espinoza allegedly filed the paperwork.

"We determined there were in fact two different people with the same identity, and we determined the one here was a fake," Detective Sgt. Steve Zoyac said.

Zoyac said the documents were reported stolen several years ago and that Espinoza seems to have purchased them through a "black market ring."

Police arrested Espinoza on Friday and charged her with three counts of identity theft. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is reviewing the case.

If we streamline the deportation system then the ICE holding tanks would not be overcrowded. We need to set guidelines for the judges....No documentation then deport them. Oh you have a kid in school here...fine leave the kid...deport the family. Reduce the paperwork to one page..filled out in 20 minutes or less...leave room for fingerprints and photo...set them up for deportation. Have buses or whatever is needed to move large numbers of pople to the border in mass. Clean out the holding tanks daily and keep the stream of illegals flowing back to mexico. If we ramp it up the outgoing flow of illegals will start to exceed the numbers of those crossing into the USA. Result is a gradual but steady decreasing of illegals within our communities.
