I don't think Lou would do this... I don't know if CNN would allow him to.

But, we could use YOU TUBE... and emails ... if we set the date a month or two in advance. May have to be 3 - 4 months out ...we might be able to spread the word enough... but I think YOU TUBE is the best way to start it and ask eveyone to send the video to their contact list and spread the word.

In the LV Review Journal 2 Sundays ago...one of the Big Casinos/Hotels BOOSTED that they hire illegals...."such nice people"...they were proud of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Las Vegas has no backbone and will not do ANYTHING to these businesses...Why doesn't every one take their vacations elsewhere and avoid Las Vegas....Senator Ensign is getting better at realizing where his people stand,...but Reid is a sick joke... The Welfare office even said in the paper that "it is not their job" to ask if the person they are giving MY tax money to is an illegal...what a load of you know what.... I do NOT want MY money to go to illegals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree.. grandma... if everyone, as I said in the above post, would stop shopping for a week... that means vacationing (and by all means NO ONE should be vacationing in Mexico!) buying major purchases, going to the movies, bowling, shopping for clothes. no eating out at fast food, resturants,etc...ANYTHING! I know in my heart that these business's would be SCREAMING!!!! That's ALL they care about is the almighty dollar! But eveyone would have to be faithful to the cause.

Can we, as Americans be inconvienced for a WEEK???? Our way of live depends on it... so I hope the answer is YES!

i think the boycotts have limited effect. what we need is a life style change. when we buy food we always look at the nutritional info and lately any info on where it is grown/made or ingredients imported from. if it's from china it's a total deal breaker. if it doesn't come from the USA or Canada or any other 1st world nation there is a good chance we do with out if we can. yes it has challenges but everything in life worth anything does. haven't been to wal mart in acouple years and very very rearly mcdonalds, or bk or wendy's.

I haven't either and a lot of us haven't but they are still going strong. If we can shut the phone system down at the capital...we could if we really wanted to SHUT THE ECONOMY DOWN. Yes, we do need to be watching labels, but many are already doing that. We have to come together as a whole and make these corporations feel the PAIN of the purchasing POWER of Americans!

We need facts. We need to put out there how much these corporations are making and how hard they are hitting us in Health Care Costs, Welfare, Schooling ect........ Illegals do not pay into our tax system. The corporations are not either. If they don't give out health benefits it hits our hospitals. Our shcools can't school all the kids they are having. They are kiiling the middle class. That is our first message. We need to shut them down.

We had a short poultry boycott last April and May that produced some promising results. There are lots of links already set up on those boycott threads, including information for "buying American". What we experienced then, as I am hearing now, is a variety of opinions about what the best tactic is, the best company to boycott, the best way to organize it. While it is essential to discuss it all, at some point, in order for action to get underway, there needs to be a vote - or some other way of coming to a working consensus.

I am posting the old threads here for your perusal. Which ideas worked and which didn't? There is a thread here for choosing the final form of the boycott. As you can see the participation in choosing was not what it could be hoped, with only 37 votes. Perhaps we have more sense of urgency now that could bring more into the decision making process.

I think you'll find when you try to organize all of people's ideas into a workable boycott, that there are so many offending companies and situations, that it is difficult to get everyone to work on ONE thing together. People tend to go off in many different directions.
We have to come together as a whole and make these corporations feel the PAIN of the purchasing POWER of Americans
As JAK pointed out, we have to show our COLLECTIVE power in order to make the kind of Impact we made with our phone calls during the shamnesty. Everyone's ideas are valuable, but we also have to find a way to get everyone working on the same target.

I agree that a change of lifestyle is the key. They don't need our money anymore....

[quote]Hispanics are among Wal-Mart’s most loyal customers and account for about 14 percent of the 127 million people who shop at the retailer’s stores in the United States every week, said Lee Scott, the company’s CEO, during a speech Tuesday at the National Council of La Raza convention in Miami Beach, Fla.

Many of Wal-Mart’s customers are either immigrants or first-generation Latinos looking to build a better life by stretching their disposable income, he added on the last day of the conference, which began July 21.

Scott said Hispanic consumers have increasingly less money to spend with retailers, including Wal-Mart, due to problems in the economy. In particular, layoffs in the slumping housing market, which employs a disproportionate number of Hispanics, have hit Latinos hard, along with high energy and health-care costs, Scott said.

“Many Hispanics have a harder time sharing money with their families abroad, and I see an impact at stores in Mexico and Central America,â€
