Finally I am a full time AMERICAN
I have always been against the idea of being
a dual citizen. I hated to have been forced to carry
two passports while visiting my family.
I have firmly believed that once
you took the Oath of Allegiance it should be no
turning back and your loyalty should rest solely
to the United States of America.
Becoming a US citizen was not enough for me. Unlike
the vast majority who keep their former citizenship
for whatever reasons: convenience, loyalty to
former country, backup plan if things do not
work out here they can always fall back on the old
homeland. So I decided to renounce officially my old
citizenship. That happened symbolically at the
Naturalization Ceremony. Most governments
do not recognize that Oath and 'force' the person to keep
both passports.
I had to file a formal Renunciation of Citizenship with
my former country. I has been a long struggle,
not to mention the possibility of alienating some
family members and after TWO LONG YEARS
of wait for the decision I received a letter
from their Ministry of Justice granting me my request.
So now I AM NOT LONGER A DUAL CITIZEN.. no more a
hyphenated American, nowhere to run but
stay and fight.
I have been on this forum for quite a while and check
it every day that I had to share this.
Thanks for letting me share my story.
MAY GOD ALWAYS BLESS AMERICA

Wow oldiesback you fit right into old Teddy's definition of an American:
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin.
BUT this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all.
We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people." - THEODORE ROOSEVELTJoin our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
