Here in Colorado most dont like illegals so you will be right at home. We have a politically correct crowd, but you will have other more intellenget folks to hang with.
I'm not sure which Colorado you live in, but the one I've lived in all my life is, currently, very, very welcomng to illegals and the employers who employ them.

Our current governor (D) is a sacutuary governor. The mayor of Denver is a sanctuary mayor. Both walk and talk the PC talk; neither has every publicaly uttered the phrase "illegal alien" and the mayor is known to have employed many illegals in his restaraunts...oh, that's right...since he can't own a business while he's mayor, these aren't his any longer, so he has plausible deniability.

We are also the state of teacher Jay Bennish who tells his students how evil the US is, and of Professor Ward Churchill who believes all Americans not "of color" should "go home."

The job situation here is okay, I'll grant you that, but we are overun by illegals, some say it's only 230,000...anybody who lives here knows the number has got to be over 300,000 in a state with fewer than 2 million (legal) residents.

There are huge areas of all our major cities where you cannot conduct business and are not welcome if you don't speak Spanish. You cannot be hired as a teacher in the public schools in all of the major school districts if you are not "bi-lingual" (the second language being English...you can guess what the first one is) and all our largest school districts now mandate the teaching of Spanish in 1-6 grades.

All our public documents are published in Spanish..oh, yeah...and English, too. And the other night I saw a spokesperson for our our department of transportation on TV, who could barely speak English...this was the official spokesperson for that large, powerful, important state agency.

Our last large level 4 (?) emergency trauma center (following close on the heels of two private ones) just moved out of the capitol city, they claim, due to a need to expand and to update their facilities; the real reason is of course that they cannot handle the load of all the illegals getting "free" medical care there.

Our "news" organs, other than Peter Boyles on the radio, either ignore the issue--including our "conservative" newspaper--or actively play it down, never mentioning the legal status of the strings of illegals they report on each and every day committing all sorts of crimes.

Tom Tancredo is from here, and he is roudly riduculed by other politicos from both sides of the aisle and of course in the media.

And I don't see any of this changing anytime soon.

I'm sorry...I guess we just see two very different Colorados.

    Tokie

Recently, I have seen big changes where I live in Colorado and the illegals are leaving because of the laws being enforced. Employers are afraid to hire them as well. It is refreshing! I think what view you have of this depends on where you live in Colorado. A person needs to do their homework no matter what state they are going to move to.

Sam-I-Am, I don't mind Californians, so long as they are not illegal Californians!!!! No it is really not like that here anymore, has not been for a while, maybe even since the early 70's. The main thing people up here have been harping about is the Californian developers, not the average person. It is about all of the dang high end complexes being built and the high end condos that is getting people up here upset.

azwreath, Jobs up here always depend on what industry you are in, if it is specialized and such. Our minimum is $7.80 and hour and right now I think that the market is overall not too bad, I feel that there is a lot of opportunities, you just have to do a lot of footwork.

On the other hand if you decide to look elsewhere, up in Washington state, in Kitsap County, there are a lot of Navy base jobs to be had by civilians (of course that also depends on your experience in that field). One of my brothers works for a company that works on the huge cement docks, and he makes pretty good money, they always have work.

I do think here in Oregon the job market may be just a little more limited, but not by too much.

Also Sam-I-Am, so long as you are not a Socialist, anarchist or libertard, you will be welcome.

Your friend has it backwards, she is the racist, she is the member of the Tan Klan. Go here to see why:

Next time answer the phone and tell her what real (legal) immigrants think about her.

Quite the irony that Teddy is, part and parcel, responsible for doing the damage that John seemed to want to avoid, is it not?

I don't know if I would put it that way, since John Kennedy did propose what became the 1965 immigration overhaul in order to increase non-European immigration (to end discrimination based on origin as he put it). But John did at least want to have limits on immigration, including a 10% per country cap.

Teddy took it way further and is doing his best to get rid of all limits and caps!! Teddy is why we now have over 2 million immigrants a year (including illegals and anchor babies), and Mexicans are over half of "immigrants"!

The end result is what was supposed to "end discrimination based on origin" instead transferred the discrimination to other areas of the world!! And we have drunk murdering Teddy to thank for screwing up John's plan.

Since when is it a "racist" or "KKK" thing when a citizen of America just wants their borders secured and immigration laws enforced? It seems that your friend is pro-illegal, and got frustrated when you "stuck up" for your own country. You don't need friends like that.

There is nothing remotely "racist" about demanding that America's national sovereignty and borders be respected, nor that America's laws be enforced! That applies to all illegals , whether Latino, European, Asian, African, or anything else; Illegal is illegal, period! That said, it stands to reason that those attracting excessive attention to their "cause" stand to be on the receiving end of the bulk of the American people's outrage; that's not racism, that's common sense! If you can't take the heat, then don't start the fire! The various Latino groups were spoiling for a fight, and now that they've gotten their wish, they're unhappy with the result? Tough tacos! They asked, and they received!
