Rep. Shuler to Introduce Enforcement-Only Bill Soon

Rep. Shuler to Introduce Enforcement-Only Bill Soon

(October 29) A new immigration enforcement bill that would remove the jobs magnet for illegal immigration is expected to be introduced in the House very soon. The SAVE Act (Secure America with Verification Enforcement) will be sponsored by Rep. Heath Shuler (D-N.C.) and is expected to have bi-partisan support. NumbersUSA believes this bill originating on the Democratic side of the House is just the vehicle to give us a chance to actually pass immigration legislation through a Democratic-controlled Congress that would significantly improve the lives of most Americans. Specifically, The SAVE Act would eventually require every employee in America to go through the E-Verify system, identifying all illegal aliens and removing any "glitches" that once allowed them to pass through the system and into the workforce undetected.

Please check back soon for more information, as it becomes available, and what actions you can take to make sure this "dream" becomes a reality.

This bill is DEFINITELY being pushed by Numbersusa!!!

Roy Beck of Numbers said that this bill is VERY important-----and might be the best thing that happened this year being that it is being presented by a Dem!!

He is asking all of us to call, fax and email---------putting pressure on all members of congress to sign on to this bill-------especially the Dems!!!!!!

Being that it is being presented by a Dem-----this increases the chances of it passing!!!!!!!

I'd have to see more. I'm real leery especially since it's being offered by a Democrat.

Yup, Numbers is supporting this, and urging us to fax our MC to cosponsor this:

This is just my opinion, but I would rather just see the laws we already have enforced, then we'll see if we can add something else to them. When the usual deals and add ons are attached to any new legislation,it very seldom looks anything like the original proposal.

I'll go along with Ronald Reagan on this one, which is to trust but verify before I endorse any new legislation that comes through this Congress,no matter who sponsors or co-sponsors it.Even Senator Sessions couldn't get a bill through Congress without compromising it with open borders advocates.

One other thing, even if this bill could somehow get through committees and both Houses I don't believe Mr. Bush would go against the Chamber of Commerce, and other business groups who would stand to lose their illegal labor.

Enforce some workplace laws already in place, then I'll believe the government is serious about enforcing our laws. We've come a long way,we're winning, and I would like to see real enforcement before I support any new laws.I will always be leery of "comprenhensive immigration reform" coming from ANY member of Congress.

    From NumbersUSA in my e-mail:

    The SAVE Act would ...

... require during Year 1 that all government agencies, government contractors, plus all businesses with more than 250 employees run all NEW hires through E-Verify.

... require during Year 2 that all businesses with 100 or more employees use E-Verify for new hires.

... require during Year 3 that all businesses with more than 20 employees use E-Verify for new hires.

... during Year 4 add businesses with fewer than 20 employees so that all businesses use E-Verify for new hires.

... also during Year 4 require all businessese to run all their previous hires through E-Verify.

The four-year phase-in is to give the government more room for massive expansion of its current system. It also allows the government to work out kinks before it is required for use by small businesses which often lack the personnel to easily deal with new procedures.

During the first three years, new illegal aliens and currently settled ones who lose their jobs will find fewer and fewer places where they can seek work.

But during those first three years, current illegal aliens who stayed in the same job would not be affected by the expanding use of E-Verify.

In the fourth year, however, all of those illegal workers would be run through E-Verify. If their Social Security number, name and a couple more details didn't match -- and they had no excuse -- they would lose their jobs.
ARE WE FINALLY ON THE OFFENSIVE??

I too worry about this legislation which might give the Dems a chance to add so many amendments it would turn into a "Bad" Bill instead of a enforcement Bill.

Also I think the Dems will try again for amnesty even if this bill was inacted. I think they would use it to prove they have FUTURE Illegal Immigration under controll if we will just make citizens of the zillions here already.

I'll watch with caution on this one......seems too good to be true.
