    AARP caters to Spanish Speakers.

I was sent this copy of a letter to AARP, and I am passing it on.,(Just as it requests).
    --------------------------

    SNOPES : CORRECTLY ATTRIBUTED

I find this very interesting reading, so let's keep it going if you agree. It only takes a few days on the Internet and this will have reached 75% of the public in the U.S.A. Seniors need to stand up for what is right, not what the politicians want or big Corporations want.

This was sent to Mr. Rand who is the Executive Director of AARP.

THIS LADY NOT ONLY HAS A GRASP OF 'THE SITUATION' BUT AN INCREDIBLE COMMAND OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE!

    ---------------------------------

    Dear Mr. Rand,

Recently you sent us a letter encouraging us to renew our lapsed membership in AARP by the requested date. I know it is not what you were looking for, but this is the most honest response I can give you. Our gap in coverage is merely a microscopic symptom of the real problem, a deepening lack of faith.

While we have proudly maintained our membership for several years and have long admired the AARP goals and principles, regrettably, we can no longer endorse it's abdication of our values. Your letter specifically stated that we can count on AARP to speak up for our rights, yet the voice we hear is not ours. Your offer of being kept up to date on important issues through DIVIDED WE FAIL presents neither an impartial view nor the one we have come to embrace. We do believe that when two parties agree all the time on everything presented to them, one is probably not necessary. But, when the opinions and long term goals are diametrically opposed, the divorce is imminent. This is the philosophy which spawned our 200 years of government.

Once upon a time, we looked forward to being part of the senior demographic. We also looked to AARP to provide certain benefits and give our voice a power we could not possibly hope to achieve on our own. AARP gave us a sense of belonging which we no longer enjoy. The Socialist politics practiced by the Obama administration and empowered by AARP serves only to raise the blood pressure my medical insurance strives to contain. Clearly a conflict of interest there!

We do not understand the AARP posture, feel greatly betrayed by the guiding forces that we expected to map out our senior years and leave your ranks with a great sense of regret. We mitigate that disappointment with the relief of knowing that we are not contributing to the problem anymore by renewing our membership. There are numerous other organizations which offer discounts without threatening our way of life or offending our sensibilities.

This Presidential Administration scares the living daylights out of us. Not just for ourselves, but for our proud and bloodstained heritage. But even more importantly for our children and grandchildren. Washington has rendered Soylent Green a prophetic cautionary tale rather than a nonfiction scare tactic. I have never in my life endorsed any militant or radical groups, yet now I find myself listening to them. I don't have to agree with them to appreciate the fear which birthed their existence. Their borderline insanity presents little more than a balance to the voice of the Socialist mindset in power. Perhaps I became American by a great stroke of luck in some cosmic uterine lottery, but in my adulthood I CHOOSE to embrace it and nurture the freedoms it represents as well as the responsibilities it requires.

Your website generously offers us the opportunity to receive all communication in Spanish. ARE YOU KIDDING??? Someone has broken into our 'house', invaded our home without our invitation or consent. The President has insisted we keep the perpetrator in comfort and learn the perp language so we can communicate our reluctant welcome to them.

I DON'T choose to welcome them.

I DON'T choose to support them.

I DON'T choose to educate them.

I DON'T choose to medicate them, pay for their food or clothing.

    American home invaders get arrested.

Please explain to me why foreign lawbreakers can enjoy privileges on American soil that Americans do not get?

Why do some immigrants have to play the game to be welcomed and others only have to break & enter to be welcomed?

We travel for a living. Walt hauls horses all over this great country, averaging over 10,000 miles a month when he is out there. He meets more people than a politician on caffeine overdose. Of all the many good folks he enjoyed on this last 10,000 miles, this trip yielded only ONE supporter of the current administration. One of us is out of touch with mainstream America . Since our poll is conducted without funding, I have more faith in it than one which is power driven.

We have decided to forward this to everyone on our mailing list, and will encourage them to do the same. With several hundred in my address book, I have every faith that the eventual exponential factor will make a credible statement to you.

    I am disappointed as hell.

    I am scared as hell.

I am MAD as hell, and I'm NOT gonna take it anymore!

AARP might as well offer services in Spanish, most American members have quit.

Let them represent Spanish speakers. I called them a year ago and demanded they take me off their mailing list, My father who is a governor of a state Rotary Club spoke to his members about AARP and their support of LaRaza. Hope AARP has enough Spanish speakers joining to keep them a float. Other wise they will go bankrupt.

This person is just an articulate but ignorant and prejudiced bigot. The countries has millions of legal Spanish speakers and some of them are of families that have been here longer than the United States. I was on the phone this week with a family whose first language is Spanish and who have been here since the time of the American Revolution. That anyone would conflate speaking and reading Spanish being offered as a choice possible only with invading and being here illegally shows a contemptable level of stupidity.

The editorialist above's worth as a human being is reflected negatively by their jump in conclusion.

On the other hand neither am I fond of AARP coming out in favor of comprehensive immigration reform which would put amnestied illegal aliens in competition with Americas eldery. This includes the family of estimado Hispanos I mentioned above algunos en su familia se necesitan trabajar en tercer edad tambien, la familia no son sin viejos que no tienen riqueza.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Come on Richard don't you think maybe you are being a little harsh. You know very well why the Spanish language choice is linked to illegal aliens. I too have many hispanic friends whose families have been here forever, but I do not know one whose first language is Spanish.

If you want to go the route of being here since the time of the American Revolution then why isn't every other language offered?

When throwing the word prejudiced around just remember that you can be prejudice without being either a racist or bigot. Stop and think why a lot of Americans hate and are prejudice towards the Spanish language.

I will tell you, it is the fact that a lot of hispanics use it as a tool against Americans. You don't have to speak a language in order to know when you are being talked about or insulted. Body language and inflection can get that across.

How many American woman in passing Mexican National men have had them opening leer and insult woman in Spanish. They hide behind the language and feel that they can say anything they want because they think we don't understand the language.

How many times have we gone shopping and had hispanic's speaking Spanish glare at Anglo's (who are minding their own busines) make rude comments, because they think the Anglo doesn't know what they are saying.

Richard, be honest your post started out in English, why did you revert to Spanish? You know most of us don't speak Spanish, so why?

Anybody can speak whatever they want , Those with manners will only speak it in their home , not in public in this country, At least not where other people that don't speak it are present. I speak German but I don't use it in public.

And to find it here with no translation is kind of an insult to those here that don't speak spanish.

Richard it has only been the last decade we have "Press One For English" and advertisements in spanish so it indicates to me it is because of the Illegal invasion from south of the border.

You speak spanish so you do not understand the problem for citizens who only speak English especially when they are turned down for employment because they are not bi-lingual.

What if the other language you must speak was a language you do not understand would you feel frustration ? Especially when English is our language and has been since the formation of the USA.

Because only someone very ignorant would not respect the right to choose to use Spanish. I am an English first language speaker born to two people who spoke Spanish as a second language. In fact my Spanish is on the rusty side. Neither parent was an ethnic Latino one was a White who spent his first years in border mining towns the other was a Caribbean Black from an English speaking island she went to college in Puerto Rico. There are members on that side of the family from Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic by common descent. I do not doubt that the sort of things that you describe happen sometimes but more often people speaking Spanish near you are not doing so to say something against you.

What I said in Spanish is that some of my Spanish speaking friends are not wealthy enough to retire in old age. AARP is conveniencing them by offering services in Spanish but creating an injustice for them by helping illegal aliens remain here competing with them for jobs.

I quit AARP as soon as they signed on to the Health Care Bill.
