    GUEST WORKER

The president is sometimes quoted as saying that America needs a guest worker program and at other times a temporary guest worker program. I need to make sure I understand. I think I could support say a six or nine month temporary work permit for immigrants in the agricultural industry if they would then be automatically required to leave after the growing season. While I generally disagree with the President's assertion that there are jobs Americans won't do, I do question if Americans will work in the agricultural industry.

Any guest worker program is simply impossible to enforce.
If we can label people "illegal" which means you get deported, and are unable to enforce that, then how the hell can we enforce something as complex as a guest worker program?

The problem is we are going to need to compromise to get anything achieved. I might propose granting a path to citizenship for those illegal immigrants who were in country in 1986 but were afraid to come forward as long as they are employed and have no criminal history. That way we can quit hearing about those people who have been here 20 to 40 years. Then once it is made clear to all Americans that both Frist and Sensenbrenner have indicated we will not seek felony convictions against churches and illegal immigrants for simply being here illegally, it will also remove that objection that we hear constantly.

I favor huge penalties for employer's who hire them, if they don't have a job and can't find work then they can leave on their own. It is time for the politicians to stand up for the american people and give us a break. These employer's have filled their pockets for long enough. Besides, if they give them amnesty, who would ever come to this country legally again. The entire world cannot live here, the buck has to stop somewhere, why not now.

Who in the world is it telling the United States of America that we must "compromise" our existing laws and the will of over 4 of 5 Americans?

Is it the big corporations or their mobs in the streets threatening to riot if we do not capitulate.

There is not going to be a "compromise". The law is on our side. The Constitution is on our Side. A super majority of Americans are on our side. Get out of the way and get out of our country.

One if the problems are they don't go home. Who is going to enforce it? The government? We all know what a joke that is with Bush's In-laws. He will enforce the border when hell freezes over. So who does that leave? Local governments and citizens at least tell we can get a president who goal is better then playing hanky panky with the interns or get the current one back to his post As the village idiot. (God I can not believe I voted for him)
We need an administration that for once listens to the people. Second we need Bush's hands tied by keeping his approval rating as low as possible. (He is helping us with that) Until then we must keep faxing, writing and calling or reps from the state level up and vote out all the ones that are garbage. And let me tell ya we need a big dumpster.
The first requisite of a good citizen in this republic of ours is that he shall be able and willing to pull his own weight.

In the 60s friends and I were turned away from work in the strawberry fields in Orange County because we were American. I have also seen white and black migrant farm workers turned away from work. And in Yakima, Washington in 1984 the Native Americans who had done the apple orchard work were turned away as the traitorous orchard owners bussed in illegals.
Americans have always done farm labor as well as service jobs and construction --- all these jobs the illegals have taken away from us. American workers made over twice what they are making at many jobs in the 70s and 80s compared to what they are making now. It is corporate greed.

Sensenbrenner never should have included the felony language without being more specific. He realized this mistake and tried to have the felony portion removed but the democrats blocked that to stir up the masses. They certainly accomplished that. What seems so frustrating is that the news media never mentions the democrats role in this. I'm not a staunch republican but I think that we have to rely on the republicans in the house if we are to have a chance at all. The senate is hopeless.

All the suggestions I made were in combination with stiff employer penalities, interior enforcement and increased border security as we build a physical barricade at the border.
