Doesn't America have enough drunk drivers that we don't need to import them from other countries?

H1B already filed and got a DUI

I am getting my MBA and with a job offer I applied for the H1B through the company's lawyers about two weeks ago (haven't heard back yet). After the application was submitted, I got arrested for a DUI and will have the first hearing next Monday. Do I have to let the lawyers know immediately or can it wait until I know the status of the DUI conviction? Is there anyway to keep this off my record? Will it automatically make me ineligible for the H1b?

Hello:

At this point, you have been charged, but not convicted. Therefore, you
do not need to notify the lawyers yet. The DUI conviction will not make
you ineligible for the H-1B status, but each time you travel and when
you apply for the H-1B visa at the US consulate, you will definitely
encounter delays. If you are convicted, it will become part of your
record.
