Woe Unto Truth Tellers In Colorado House of Reps!

Woe Unto Truth Tellers In Colorado's House of Representatives!

    By John W. Lillpop

Colorado State Rep. Douglas Bruce is apparently a man of unusual candor and one who favors the truth over politically-correct double talk.

That assessment of Rep. Bruce was borne out by his remarks while speaking at the podium of the state House of Representatives on Monday.

During debate on a bill that would allow the state help "immigrant" workers get a temporary federal visa, Rep. Davis sent the august body into utter chaos when he said:

"I would like to have the opportunity to state at the microphone why I don't think we need 5,000 more illiterate peasants in Colorado."

According to reports, Bruce's "outburst" drew an audible gasp from the assembled nit wits in the House.

Which is actually a sign of progress, because at least there was a quorum of House members who were sober and awake enough to gasp audibly! Progress, not perfection is clearly good enough in Colorado.

State Rep. Kathleen Curry, a Democrat who was serving as chairwoman during the debate, went into ding-bat shock and immediately told the Republican lawmaker that he was no longer recognized to speak.

"How dare you?" demanded Curry, obviously outraged that free speech, wrapped in truth and light, had somehow invaded the House chamber while the not-so-honorable chair lady was trolling for Hispanic votes.

Of course, Curry does have a point. After all, Mexican farm workers imported for slave labor are vastly underestimated by racist pigs like Rep. Bruce.

For example, many of the laborers are closeted Rhodes Scholars, toiling in 110-degree heat for sixteen hours a day in order to expose the plight of the victimized poor brought here by vote hungry Democrats and cheap labor hungry Republicans.

Many other Mexican laborers are working on post-graduate degrees in linguistics and need the gritty-nitty banter found only in strawberry fields to better understand barrio Spanish.

Other alleged laborers are actually crafty Mexican investors who come disguised as pickers so as to gather competitive intelligence and other financial information needed to support hostile take-over bids for tomato and grape ranches in Colorado's rich agriculture lands.

In fact, when you get down to it, the only "illiterate peasant" around is State Rep. Kathleen Curry.

    Got that Rep. Bruce?

The Lefties in Colorado hate Douglas Bruce with a passion. He was the driving force behind the Tabor Amendment, aka The Taxpayers' Bill of Rights, that requires that the political class to come to the voters and ask for approval for tax increases, before they can be raised. They've never forgiven him for that, and they've been doing whatever they can to dismantle this particular amendment to the Colorado State Constitution - unfortunately, that doesn't just go for the Democrats, Republicans have also tried to undermine it.

His comments regarding the "illiterate peasants" are true. These tend to be folks who are functionally illiterate in their native tongue, and the Spanish translation for peasants is campesinos, which is a term the Mexican people use frequently. Bruce is an abrasive sort, not given to walking on politically correct eggshells, when he has something to say. So far, none of his fellow Republicans have publicly come to his defense, which sad to say, isn't surprising in this state.

To be honest Tom might support the bill but he would never describe them with that type of language.

Yes Bruce's choice of words was his downfall. Tom would have gotten the message across without giving the idiots an opportunity to jump on him.

The Democrats and some Republicans in Colorado, will always find an opportunity to jump on Bruce. The attempts to circumvent the Tabor Amendment, in other words raising taxes without consent of the voters, are commonly referred to as "De-Bruceing".

However politically incorrect his choice of terms may have been, they were accurate, and it brought national attention to this particular case, and to the ongoing national debate on immigration.

Then again, maybe Bruce should have chosen his words more carefully, something along the lines of "educationally-challenged agricultural workers".

Maybe if there had been blunt-talking Swedish politicians voicing their concerns year ago, Sweden wouldn't be experiencing this: www.alipac.us/modules.php?name=Forums&f ... c&t=112897
