Question About The Illegals In Texas

Some might think this is insensitive, but it's taxpayer money... I'm just seeing this devastation as an opportunity.

    ************************************************** ***

    Will illegals get FEMA houses?

Isn't this a good time to check status?

When they try to sign up for help, why can't they run E-Verify for the ones that report who they work for?

Plus when they do apply for emergency anything, check their status then.

Most probably didn't leave by taking a bus. So ICE can ID them and give them a drink, a meal, and a change of clothes, then lead them to the bus.

It is ridiculous to coddle them now, they are finally out in the open, so round them up!

I know they can get some FEMA assistance, and especially if they have an anchor baby.

What a wonderful ideal, WA!!! But there have been reports that those illegals evacuating would not be required to prove citizenships to receive shelter, and to demand that now would not be PC.
Plus, who is going to repair Texas except illegals since those are jobs Americans won't do.
And when Mexico had its storm earlier this year, the CBP even opened the borders for humanitarian purposes. Haven't seen anything yet that any of these storm refugees have left.

I'm sure they will not check immigration status.

They don't seem to mind giving them HUD home loans, why not FEMA homes.

I've read where anchor babies go back when the illegl parents are deported. Legally the kids can stay, but the pparents can't

Why can't we call ICE or Homeland Security about that issue?
I know we would get labeled inhumane. We'll at this point, I might very will be! I've had it and things need to change soon.

This is how FEMA works (as of April 2007 - from personal experience). FEMA has tightened rules after they were scammed by quite a few Katrina victims.

Before giving any money out - They DO require proof of legal status. They DO come out and inspect your home for proof of damages. They want to see documented proof that YOU live where you say you do.

IF you do not have flood insurance, they may provide you the basic necessities. If you own your home - to make habitable again (not the way it was pre-flood). Just enough to make it ok for you to live in it. Fridge, oven, heater, drywall, paint. Nowhere near what you need to rebuild.

If you do have flood insurance, FEMA gives you nothing. Flood insurance, however, is underwritten by FEMA. You get what FEMA inspectors assess the damage at - up to the value of your policy.
You may also get rental help - again, woefully low.

If you are a renter, all you have lost are your possessions and they do not replace those.

Now the RED CROSS will help anyone, they are not ALLOWED to ask for legal status. They WILL come out and inspect your property and decide what help you need. They no longer take your word for it. Again, a result of being scammed by some Katrina victims and a ton of illegal aliens. They will provide people with food and water and basic cleaning supplies. They will give you a one-time debit card to buy clothes and basic necessities. This debit card will track your purchases.

If FEMA does help you out for the first time, you are REQUIRED to purchase flood insurance. If you do not, and rebuild, you will receive no further help next time. If your area is not insurable and you rebuild, next flood or storm, you will get no help.

Most of the help will come from volunteers. Beware of anyone offering to help for pay (the illegal aliens will do this, as they will not "help" for free).

    Hope this helps a little.

    Calling ICE about Hud loans?

    They know.

I found out by reading two articles in the newspaper. They were interviews with two officials with HUD. Different papers, different times, different officials.

ONe article started out with something like 'Maria and Jose have been looking for a home -----', and went on to tell about illegals and HUD loans.

Both officials essentially said illegals have so many loans through HUD if a small percentage defaulted, the program would be in jeopardy.

At the time, I thought 'What is going on!' Then was surprised I was surprised.

    Thanks for the information.

The part about requiring 'proof' means little. These people have 'provided proof' for all many of freebies in this country. Does anyone really think FEMA will turn down a bunch of illegals saying they have bad ID's.

I can hear the weeping and wailing now.

    Trixie,

In NJ they have done this. But FEMA will accept ID of a US born child too, won't get as much as they'd want, but will get some.

The proof I meant is proof of actual damages, FEMA inspectors want to SEE the damages you are claiming, you need to show them a bill with your name and that address, they won't take your word for it. If you lost food, you might get a $50 per person voucher for food and that's it.

The illegal aliens know exactly who will and who will not give them things. They will go back time and time again with different ID to get more. The volunteers DO catch on to them, and neighbors will report them. Remember what happened during the CA fires?

Yes, I understand the checking out part, it's just that nothing is going to keep them from accessing the benefits, whatever they get, as they will not be turned away because of ID. If so, it would be the first time in 30 years that has happened.
