last I checked it was 175 mph ... it is moving to the west, but that doesn't mean it won't shift eastward ...
it's not looking good for New Orleans ... millions of people below sea level will be flooded"Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it" George Santayana "Deo Vindice"

I think all the cable networks could be a little less dramatic and descriptive about some things.
No one caught my joke about a mandatory evacuation of all illegals from all 50 states!

People are still trying to get out traffic jams and some people don't even have cars or anything. Gas prices are going to go up even higher because of this! If it it does hit NO really bad like they say it will then they are in serious trouble NO is like a bowl, Lake on one side, Mississippi River and Ocean on another and below sea level if that's not bad enough then read on:

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BULLETIN: New Orleans, LA. 10:11 A.M. CDT.
Hurricane Katrina...a most powerful hurricane with unprecedented strength...rivaling the intensity of hurricane Camille of 1969.
Most of the area will be uninhabitable for weeks...perhaps longer. At least one half of well constructed homes will have roof and wall failure. All gabled roofs will fail...leaving those homes severely damaged or destroyed.
The majority of industrial buildings will become non functional. Partial to complete wall and roof failure is expected. All wood framed low rising apartment buildings will be destroyed. Concrete block low rise apartments will sustain major damage...including some wall and roof failure.
High rise office and apartment buildings will sway dangerously...a few to the point of total collapse. All windows will blow out.
Airborne debris will be widespread...and may include heavy items such as household appliances and even light vehicles. Sport utility vehicles and light trucks will be moved. The blown debris will create additional destruction. Persons...pets...and livestock exposed to the winds will face certain death if struck.
Power outages will last for weeks...as most power poles will be down and transformers destroyed. Water shortages will make human suffering incredible by modern standards.
The vast majority of native trees will be snapped or uprooted. Only the heartiest will remain standing...but be totally defoliated. Few crops will remain. Livestock left exposed to the winds will be killed.
An inland hurricane wind warning is issued when sustained winds near hurricane force...or frequent gusts at or above hurricane force...are certain within the next 12 to 24 hours.
Once tropical storm and hurricane force winds onset...do not venture outside!"The defense of a nation begins at it's borders" Tancredo

"Estimates have been made of tens of thousands of deaths from flooding that could overrun the levees and turn New Orleans into a 30-foot-deep toxic lake filled with chemicals and petroleum from refineries, and waste from ruined septic systems.""The defense of a nation begins at it's borders" Tancredo

Having been through a whole bunch of these being a high tidder here in hericane ally. If I lived within 200 miles of projected land fall of this 175 MPH monster I would be leaving too. I hardly ever leave for them but this is bad. most beach house windows are rated for 135 MPH winds.

Having been 3 miles from the eyewall of Andrew, I can tell you that there were unofficial reports of thousands of deaths of migrant workers in south Dade County. The official death count was under 100. This is somthing that I don't understand.
Please notice that the media is using the word 'catastrophe' rather than 'disaster'. Has this ever happened before? How will that effect what FEMA does? In my opinion, Andrew was a catastrophe not a disaster.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

I'm glad we don't have to deal with hurricanes in California. We already have enough problems with earthquakes, fires, and illegals.
