    Hutchison Amendment Fails?

They are finished voting on Hutchison amendment to create temporary guest worker program requiring application from home country and preliminary count appears as if it has failed.

Well, Barkway, wasn't this amendment where illegals had to return home in order to apply for the guest worker program ?

It almost seems as though they say things and claim things and then just do what they want.

Looks like the life of Riley to me. Let's give some other Americans a turn at this. No wonder they stay their entire lives.

All cloture means is that you stop debating a bill, and it moves to a final vote. It takes 60 votes to achieve cloture-and send a bill to a final vote in that chamber-and over 70 senators voted in favor of ending debate today. Some of them are amnesty opponents who believe that sending it to conference will result in significant changes-for the better-but frankly, I'm not convinced that strategy will work.

Well, now is the time to switch to hounding your representative and demanding that he stand firm for the tough House bill.
