I hope this means the monster is really dead!!!

IMMIGRATION TURNABOUT
Within two days last week, House Majority Leader John Boehner changed from sunny optimism about prospects for passing an immigration bill this summer to a bleak, negative outlook. The reason was that Boehner got the word from House Speaker Dennis Hastert.
Boehner on Tuesday was upbeat in addressing a breakfast forum at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which supports a guest worker program. He indicated he would resolve differences between the restrictive House bill and the much more liberal Senate bill by the Fourth of July.
But at a closed luncheon Wednesday at Charlie Palmer's restaurant, attended by financial contributors to House Republicans, Boehner declared that the immigration bill was all but dead. That change followed Boehner's conversation late Tuesday with Hastert, who made clear he did not want to pursue the issue that splits the Republican Party.

That is great! assuming it is true. I've been thinking all day that there is not much in the news about the immigration bill! I was hoping it was because it was dying!! I have thought all along they would drag this thing out and leave it to the next administration. It is splitting the Republican party because the bill is not what the people want!!!!!!!

I hope it is dead, but unfortunately, I think it'a a phoenix and we will have to be ever vigilant for it's rising from the ashes at any moment!!

Why is this a good thing? What if the dems get control of the house in the coming elections and change the house's version to mirror the senates?

I am afraid it is just dead until after the elections.
But, assuming it is dead, where does that leave us? Do we now get busy and force some enforcement?? Not these token smokescreens we have been seeing.
I think we need to be very vigilante. Something has energized this President and I am not sure exactly what it is.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

If many get so mad at Bush and take it out on the Republicans in the House, we will be facing a long haul with the Dems. that want amnesty, in any form they can get it.
I believe the House R's. are working more for us than the others.....let's just keep the heat on all of them...and more heat on the Dems!Do not vote for Party this year, vote for America and American workers!

I dont think its dead. I think there are ALOT of 'Closed Door Meetings' going on right now. And, I think we are all going to be taken by surprise, if we let our guard down. We need to keep the letters, emails and phone calls going!
