Thanks for the education, as it sounded to me like the Senate yea vote was a sure thing according to some TV channels, and they were already positioning reporters for the upcoming delay in a final bill, and how the country would crash in the meantime. I guess I better stick to NatGeo and History channels, as possible distant planets, asteriods hitting us and the evolution of the dinosaurs seem real simple compared to keeping up with the continual shenanigans in Congress.

    Compromise Text Available
Posted at 2:50 am on Sunday, February 8, 2009
Bill text is now available for the Senate compromise. We have the PDF version, plain text, and have parsed it into our searchable database.

Given our understanding of the schedule for a vote at 5:30pm Monday, there are now just under 40 hours until the vote, unless of course Majority Leader Reid heeds the call of our open letter and delays the vote to allow Senators --- and the public --- time to actually read the bill.

The way I understand it is after it comes out of Conference both houses have to pass it again before it goes to the President's desk. Since debate is over they just need 51 votes in the Senate. Believe me this bill is not good. It only stimulates special interests and the government. There is some good stuff in it but it is really a reflection of the fascism inside the U S.

If it's the FINAL version that is being spoken of in the letter, then I'm with Cayla in saying....definitely.....Yes to signing the letter.

There is absolutely no way in blazes that this thing should be voted on, signed, put down as dog papers, or anything else before the American public has had the opportunity to see it.

I need to know if you think YES, sign it or NO dont sign it.

I also need to know if this line is accurate or not.

As of the writing, however, the full details of the compromise have not been made public, and no legislative text has been published for open review.

It is a tricky statement, but I would say true. Technically, the legislative text of the House version was available, but not the text of the Senate's compromise bill.

From what I have been reading, there is probably no final version of this bill until it gets to conference. And most worrisome is that these congressmen are really trying to pass something so they will be able to get out of town for the holiday (President's day that used to be Lincoln's birthday). And it seems before our governmental slime leaves, the will no doubt be midnight amendments, which no one can read before they have to vote.
With apologies to all that are trying to do the right thing but get hornswoggled at every turn. We as the American public can commiserate.

I think there's going to be a final version that they will be voting on, and that's what they're working on now.

Then it goes back to the House, who will also vote on it .

The House and Senate have to both pass the same bill at some point.
